Does tangs eat them?

I used to have a small 2"x2" patch.

Somehow it disappear after 1 week when I am on holiday.

During the week, tank is on auto-feeder but feed quantity is at minimum to sustain them only.

Got the feeling my yellow and blue tang ate them up...

Ya, Tangs normally dun consume them... You may try some cleaning crew like hair algae eating urchin..

Yr pics looks like either Derbesia or Bryopsis... Anyway, both are presently being considered cyanobacteria that contain chlorophyll.

Beside what Lemon suggested..

U may try :-

- Increase the Skimmer efficiency.

- Manually Siphon out the mat, since it is bacteria, avoid it spread and infected other area.

- Increase water flow @ infected area.

- Cyano prefer red spectrum. U may try actinic for few days for monitoring..

- Try any possible way to reduce unwanted nutrient (PO4,NO3 etc).

- Some may recommend u using antibiotic, try to avoid if possible, cause it potentially bring negative effect to system biological system.

- Try avoid Carbon application for the moment until yr algae issue resolve..

Hope above helps...

Cheers....
