Triggerfish like to play with sand?

Recently I had purchased a triggerfish and I realized that it always like to fill the mouth with sand to split it all over the place. Is it common? For if I going to have coral in my tank, would this triggerfish damage the coral since he like to split sand all over. Pls advise thk

Triggerfish is classified under as a non reef-safe fish. However if you give them enough hard food, they _might_ fulfill their desire. What it is doing is simply to dig out the sand to find hidden "gems" like clams or shell-liked creatures. That's what they do in the wild in search for food. How have you been feeding it ? They should be provided a mixture of soft and hard food as they like to munch which helps maintaining their teeth, same concept for a pufferfish.

i have 3 trigger fish in my tank ( niger , undulate & clown) none of them disturb my hard and soft coral. feed them 2 times a days with pellet, mysis and krill .
