Hey Poh... Nice slim tank.

- The power connectors on the top looks scary though... guess they are securely placed.

Is the white cabinet glossy surface? looks good !

Hi, All

sorry for my messy thread.....

been busy with my babies.

only can update after they slept.

Anyway...its a 3ft x 1ft x 2ft tank.

Cabinet height is 2.5ft.

Tank has IOS *which is the black omaga? paper pasted on left side of tank.

My slim tank dont allow below sump.

Had been reading a lot for the past 5 weeks.

Got 2 books (from NLB) to recommend to all here.

WHAT FISH? and WHAT INVERTEBRATES? A buyer's guide for marine aquarium.

Very informative and useful.....

Been sourcing for the equipment.

Finally decided to use AquaZonic 3ft LED fixture for my tank. (cheapest i can find)

Also will be using a built in Dymax skimmer (attached picture).

Talking about Skimmer. I strongly recommend all to go around see see look look first, I got mine for S$68. Belive it or not, few row shops down selling for 85..... That is too much...

Some features for the rockscape - Lots of "caves"

And light installed and one small powerpump inside the main cave to circulate water flow.

Picture of cabinet as per request.

Cabinet finish is glossy white (Piano white).

Side view of tank that can see the ISO. ISO side using Tinted Glass, that's why it black colour.

Finally got custom made acrylic sheets.....

One to protect my chiller hose.

Three pieces to be on top of my hook. Use "no holes" 8mm thickness for the power extension wire.

The with holes one is to prevent fishes from jumping up and out.

Everything look neater and nicer.

Poh,

interesting to have algae scrubber in the IOS. Keep us posted on how it goes.

some queries regarding the medias you are using

1) Charcoal : its carbon right?

2) Anti nitrate and prostate (phosphate?) wool - what is this? you have pics? ( my guess is polyfilter??)

3) Chemi Pure - I have used this in the past... personally I did not particularly like it. It is activated carbon plus some ion exchange resins. If I recall correctly, the resins get depleted very fast within a few days. A bag of this does not last a few months as what they indicate. Perhaps just 2 weeks in my experience. The Chemi Pure Elite contains additional Ferric Iron Oxide to assist with removal of phosphate/ silicate. But imho, I think using good quality carbon and GFO will be more effective than using chemi pure.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Perhaps other bros who have used chemipure can chime in.

Hi

Ya. It's carbon.

Chemi-pure look good the last time i used it. Cos water become very clear.

I dont have picture of the wool now. Cos used up.

Its green and brown colour. This is the first time i used it.

Dont know how effective.

bought NUTRAFIN Cycle - Biological Aquarium Supplement.

It says. Immediately established safe biological aquairum environment. allow immediate introduction of fish.

Dont know real a not. So far only add one snail.

Cool. As long as your are happy with Chemi Pure and it works for you.

The Nutrafin is for bacterial dosing. Same as several other products. I am using Brightwell MB 7.

You can also consider Prodibio for your bacteria dosing. :) I have been using that for the past 1 yr plus.. :) very well thought out tank :) good on you.. a bit too narrow for my taste but well we all work with what we have!! :) I LIKE your custom made acrylic sheets.. very very neat and good idea.

Cheers, ;)
