SRC Member ytpmzy Posted March 26, 2015 SRC Member Share Posted March 26, 2015 Realised i have been posting it on the wrong section of the forum haha Continuing here Tank stand came XD bought from a reefer in this forum > (Lots of thanks to that guy ).... While shifting the tank , lost my shrimp and my only coral .... Perhaps due to shock , not so sure The bioreactor back washed too , now I have to restart it -.- nitrates climbing again ... Enough of problems haha. Planning to stock the tank with : Hammar corals (hopefully clowns like it? and to add flow to the stale rock work) Gonio (same as hammer ) Green star polyps (again ) Mandarin fish (after I see that the pod population is booming again > ) Any advice will be much appreciated

SRC Member ytpmzy Posted March 30, 2015 Author SRC Member Share Posted March 30, 2015 I wanna try a black molly too :-) Haha, take a few days to change them to brackish conditions then to full marine. can the black mollies breed? any babies yet? Yes, but they stopped when I changed the male sail fin because the previous one died -.-. Do mollies practice monogamy? Hahaha. Lost most of my babies as I found out too late -.- and there used to be a puffer.
SRC Member ericmz Posted March 31, 2015 SRC Member Share Posted March 31, 2015 start a colony bro, so no misses. anyway do you have to acclimatise them when first introduce?
SRC Member ytpmzy Posted March 31, 2015 Author SRC Member Share Posted March 31, 2015 start a colony bro, so no misses. anyway do you have to acclimatise them when first introduce? A colony ? Acclimate them slowly , increasing salinity by 0,005 per day (Ideally , haha , mollies are very tolerant to salt so you can over do it like 0.01per day)

SRC Member ytpmzy Posted May 2, 2015 Author SRC Member Share Posted May 2, 2015 Getting too hot for me to reef. Need a chiller. Got a refractometer and realized my salinity is above 1.030 ... Wondering if that got to do with the death of my corals or is it the heat. Will post photos next time haha

Hammer won't die from heat or salinity de Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I matched my log to when the coral died ... Seem like the NO3 was at 25ppm when it starting to show signs of distress ... 25ppm NO3 too high?
Guest
That Did you observe algae growing at the hammer skeleton ? A lot of reason . To me my hammer die was cause of nitrate spike . And it was open fully when there's no chiller or fan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Guest
There was brown jelly on it Two common elements in all coral disease causes / factors are: stress from any environment factors, and/or water parameter changes. These environmental factors can include: stress/injury from opportunistic organisms such as nematodes or flatworms, and bites/nips from fish or invertebrates combined with the presence of certain types of bacteria and/or fungus. The most common elements of water parameters that can lead to coral diseases are higher than normal temperatures and higher than normal nutrients in the water (typically Nitrate levels 5 ppm or higher and Phosphate levels 0.5 ppm or higher). SPS (stony polyp corals) are more prone to coral diseases as compared to other corals due to fact that SPS are less tolerant to changes in water parameters and not very tolerant of less than ideal water parameters.http://www.reefaquarium.com/2012/coral-diseases/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
