  1. Yeah I don't know whether it's because I touched it too often (3 attempts) or what factors... but after putting it down so nicely the first time, the whole thing moved and in 24 hours when I came back from work, I found it flipped over with it's base upwards and mouth downwards in the sand.. so I touched it the 2nd time with my bare hands and moved it to a corner of the tank with low flow.... then AGAIN after 24 hours it slowly flipped over after I target feed it a couple of squirts of mysis..... I decided to give it one more attempt to move it as it was facing the little cave where our bartlet anthias always goes to for fear it would eat our fish ( which i THINK it ate one..) however this last attempt could have been my and its undoing as it was sticking to my fingers ( i tried to use my corallife glove but it made my fingers devoid of feeling so I just used my bare hands) and I could NOT get it off without jerking my hands violently away. and within 24 hours, we could tell it was a goner. I kinda regret attempting to move it the 3rd time.. maybe if I did not touch it and heck care that it was facing the anthias cave... it would have survived... but then.. MAYBE the rest of the anthias would have been it's dinner.. so.. who knows.. HAIZ.... Live and Learn. Desi

  5. I love the CARPET!! It's a beautiful piece but SO BIG!!!! Haiz.. mine fell off the rock.. moved around and now in one back corner of my tank on the SAND... so much for giganteas liking rocks.. mine seem to detach itself from the rocks and land on the sand more. ARUGH.. Cheers Desi
  6. yup lemon, I read about that as well in all the literature about anemone that one should not mix.. and yet .. here we see many tanks with more than 1 anemone in there and everything seems fine. So I suppose it does all boil down to regular maintenence and husbandry of our little piece of ocean. Running carbon, rowaphos and purigen to clear our water. Currently, haven't figured out a time to do regular water change but we'd start off with once a month . And since the tank is relatively new, we have been doing water parameter tests every alternate day so if there's any spike, we'd know within a relatively short time. alright.. i"d call it a night.. I will NOT go out and look at the carpet.. I WILL NOT go out and look at the carpet.. I WILL GO and join ketchup in BED.... <weak> Desi.
  7. hee hee.. let me make a clarifaction.. it's a gigantea not a hadonni. and as you rightly said in PM VT__snow, it SHOULD prefer the rockwork but now it's moving around the clove.. on the sand.. maybe it thinks the outcrop of clove is a ROCK! ARUGH! .. .... I guess I have to give it about a week or so before I put in my tomato and RBTA. lol I sure as hell hope my RBTA would settle at the spot that I put it in since it's now already settled on a rock in my refugum. LOL I'm gonna have both anamoneas in seperate corners of the tank.. as FAR away as possible! Desi
  8. lemon I like your sunkist! lol... Desi
  9. you know, that's what I asked Henry when I bought it from him, but he told me to put it on a rock.. so I did.. then it MOVED.. and now.. it's lodged itself at the corner of my BIG clove.. LOL on the SAND.. HAHAHAHA oh well... I'd let it roam around until it finds a spot.. right now I'm just so happy that the 2 black clowns have SOMEWHERE to sleep to rest their tired fins. LOL
  10. OMG,... it moved ... and moved.. and NOW it's RIGHT NEXT to our CLOVE!!! ARUGH!! LOL will the carpet kill our clove? Desi
  11. Here's a pic of our carpet and the 2 little black osci! And right now.. the carpet is moving around the tank... god knows where it's gonna land! Hope it doesn't eat any of our snails or other small fishes in the process. Cheers, Desi.
  12. wow it's a beaut!!!!!! love the close up shots of the polyps. Desi.
  13. OH yeah, we are also turning on the UV 24/7 right now since we added in the anthias... I know that it kills both the good and bad bacteria so I guess I'd be doing more dosing of my phyto and zooplankton as well as my rowa bac during the weekly dosing... Does anyone else out there have any opinion about UV? AS I intend to leave it on for the first couple of days then maybe cut it down to 8 hours a day.... any comments on UV usage? Desi
  14. oooo I love the first pic.. is that a ric or a yuma? honestly up till now I can't tell the diff... sorry to hear about your clown goby.. they are REALLY cute little animals.... I love to see them perching on corals. /pat pat Desi
  15. I am using a mixture of Carib Sea and Nature's Ocean Black sand and I am also experiencing the same thing.. all the brown algae on the sand. Currently I have 4 Narsi snails and 2 sand shifting star fishes in my tank.. and so far, I think they are doing a pretty good job preventing the brown algae thingy.. or whatever it is ... from becoming too "overflowing"... It's not completely eradicated but in my opinion it doesn't seem to be getting more.... in some areas it seems to be getting less, and in other areas, there is no change. Then again cause my sand is black, maybe it doesn't stand out so much for me! HAH Try Narsi snails? Cheers, Desi
  16. how often do you feed your RBTA prawn? once a week? I got a whole batch of frozen prawns in the fridge all waiting to be devoured! Desi
  17. Yup we have released the 2 blackies into the tank first since sunday.. they have been swimming around and made friends with the other fish.. it's damn cute when 2 teeny tiny black osci school with the 2 tangs.. LOL Obviously they get left behind! HAHAHAHAH but Ketchup and I feel very heart pain waking up every morning to find them swimming at the fish gathering corner of the tank.. with no host... I know it's ALL IN THE MIND cause they can survive but... heh...we will wait patiently for a suitable sized hadonni ... now we just have to wait a week plus before putting the RBTA and our tomato into the tank and then PRAY the tomato don't whack the 2 black osci since they do not have the protection of an anemonea. BTw, just a question do you guys QT Bartlett Anthias or you just THROW THEM in? Cheers, Desi
  18. Thanks Joe.. We are still slowly stocking and refraining from binge buying! Besides, 3 pieces of equipment are still pending delivery. can't wait for the whole thing to be.. "whole"... if you know what I mean. Ketchup and I switch from playing world of warcraft together to marine tank hobby together lor. LOL Good luck to your set up too! May the gods of reefing look down upon our endeavors with showers of blessings! Cheers Desi
  19. WOw the RBTA looks great.. heck everything looks GREAT! hhmmmm I seem to hear allot about RBTAs splitting... hopefully mine splits too! Cheers Desi
  20. welcome back snowy! Hey... your dimensions are exactly the same as my setup as well ^5! your livestock will love all the little caves to dart into whenever you turn around and stare at them from your table. LOL Do I spot a YT and a NAso Tang in there already? Desi

  24. Looking good chercm! your green coral bridge looks cool!! what is it? Desi
  25. Hey all, need some advice here. The scenario is this. Right now, I have a small RBTA on a small rock hosting my little tomato clown in our refrigum with the lights on during the day and off at night of course. And they have been in there for the past 3 days.. hand feeding the anamonea with brine/mysis. And throwing in pellet food for my tomato... I don't know whether he eats or not cause I dun see him eating as the pellets land on the sand of my refrigum but when I check an hour later, the pellets are gone.. whether covered by sand or he cheongz after mommy leaves... god knows! AND then yesterday, we finally added our 2 black osci clown fish into the main display which has been on reserve for us for about 2 weeks @ reborn. They are really small .. about 2-2.5cm in length at most. but very cute. WE couldn't find a small hadonni carpet to host them so the poor things are just swimming around our big tank. Observed the whole of sunday and the tangs, yellow wrasse and firefish never bothered them at all. I am hoping to get a host for them soon but because i"m afraid my tomato would whack them.. I am holding back putting in the RBTA and tomato into the main tank until the black osci has been in the main tank for at least a week. Is this the right way? Since the tomato is in last, by RIGHT it should not whack the already "resident" fish right? I assume even if I can't find a little hadonni carpet for my 2 black osci, they should be alright swimming around? Last night, when lights out, they were still swimming around and not picking a small corner to "sleep"... I'm worried that they would "swim themselves to death".. since there is no host.... hahhah.. I know it sounds wierd but hey... we all need a place to sleep! Desi. HEre's a pic of my 2 babies before collection. fish.bmp
