dude, i share ur pain. when i first looked at mh, advises were coming in thick and fast, and they are not necessary the same. since ur going for lps only, u can stay with 150W but go for 2 units for even distribution and can hang 9" fr water level. but if going for one unit, need to put very near water. i personally suggest u go for one 250W as what i have (although now im regretting it cos i want sps and thus need 1x400W or 2x250W). if u like slighly blue colour, ie not normal daylight yellow or white, take 20K Kelvin bulb. im using BLV and the blue is sufficient such that u dont need to use actinic blue lights. so in summary, make sure you are sticking to lps and not eyeing sps cos upgrading is always gonna cost more $$$. cheers!

shut down one of them... the 2400l/h is too strong so the skim is super thin and overflow after a while. juz bought a control valve to reduce the flow. cannot afford anymore leh... juz blew $$$ on an european brand uv light this morning.

for weipro skimmer, i think juz follow their guide for pump and wont go wrong. for 2012, use a 400g/h pump. that translates into 1500l/h or thereabouts. skimmate depends on the DOC in the water, efficiency of skimmer is juz one aspect of it, not to mention power of pump. skimmer may need a couple of days to build a first top layer before you can see the kopi o. some call this the break in period??? not sure if im doing it correctly but i think the weipro air intake should connect to air pump for more bubbles? who to raise the water level? the outlet is fixed at certain height so that is max or is there a way to adjust?

bros, thanks for the tips. i am going to put a metal bar across the 2 walls where my tank sits in between. then i hang the mh from this metal bar. now is question of using what to hang. hardware store recommend those steel cables or chains but seems like my black metal box got no suitable holes. anyone got suggestion of what else can be used or what to use to secure the steel cables? store sells a clip like thingy where you pull the cables through and then hammer it tight. supposedly can hold quite heavy load...

i bought a mh light from viclite. those black box type. i intend to put the ballast and ignitor to external so that it is not too heavy to hang. my headache is how to hang. can members who bought this unit share their setup? anyone do a stand for it? thanks!
