  1. So what's your status with your alternative DIY skimmer?
  2. Try to reduce the cable length for those cheapo extension ones and don't coil it. So that it won't heat up & can cause unnessary tripping.
  3. Quite easy to calculate the current (ampere) pump1 - 50W pump2 - 100W table fan - abt 20W MH light - 250W Some equipment has losses such especially ballast loss (in form of heat). So add about 30% to the MH light = 325W. Pump, at 10% losses. Fan no need to add anything lar. So total wattages plus losses = 55+110+20+325 = 510Watts Current (ampere) = Power (Watts) / Voltage (230V) = 510/230 = 2.2A So your timer or extension plugs should have higher ratings than this say, minimum 5Amps. (Give additional allowance about 1.5times of your calculated current usage). Will not heat your cables also. Take not for those having chillers because chillers have starting current of at least 7-10 times the rated chiller current. So your cables, plugs, timers should be able to take the sudden surge of current for a few seconds.
  4. I would like to suggest further reading by some experts at this site. Calcium/carbonate best describe in the 'Marble Analogy' Understading Calcium and Alkalinity Cheers
  5. The size of the chiller only helps to speed up the cooling process, the bigger the size, the faster the water reaches the setpoint temperature. It is good to get the correct size of the chiller so that the chiller will not underwork nor overwork. The amount of electricity consumption is greatly depend on the heatload absorbed by the water due to the lights and pumps and also the efficiency of the chiller.
  6. Is it this type? Skimmer

Hope it's a metal trunking. If plastic trunking, not sure it can take the heat.

  10. I've checked the schematic and if the 240V/12V step down transformer is earthed at the 240V side. It would be very safe. For those who wants to commercialised their DIY products, I'll support them for their interest. Don't get easily discouraged by negative comment. It is part & parcel of being an entrepenuer. Anyway, treat this comments as constructive feedback to improve on your design further. Cheers to those DIYers

  12. I have f/2 fertilser for phyto cultures. Bought Mass pack. I have to mix them and get about 3 liters. Anybody needs the F/2, let me know. Mixing it today. I only need 1 litre only. Would sell the other 2 litres very cheap . Or may be 500ml per bottle (max 4). PM me. Thanks.
  13. I bought the starter's kit "u Grow" at $35 at Reb**n. But the fertiliser too little. Have to wait 2 weeks for next shipment arrive. I think order direct from Florida Farm is cheaper. Bought the mass micro algae grow. Good if you can grow the algae in coke bottle, with the rigid airline tube. Bought the airline tubes from kallang fish shop in front of boon keng mrt. I bought all of rigid airline tube. The shop has to restock again.
  14. What would be the price like? Hope dun cost a bomb
