  1. Bro http://ircalc.usps.gov/intl_speed.asp?CID=...unds=5&Ounces=1 VpostUSA is interesting, but don't know if all the merchants will to do that.
  2. do you have any idea what is the frieght charges? Unless you see the potential for a container load, if not the usual is about US$15 to 20 mail order rate.
  3. Saw this thing at a Bedok st 4 hardware shop price at 50, it is next to the one that sells timber
  4. that is only about 3000 hours it is seriously short lifespan. The first report even shorter. Anyway it is too late for me, I had retrofitted T5 into my hood since June 1, so let time tell. I'm using Osram tube and Osram ballast.
  5. Anyone with empty 3ft casing for sale?
  6. PM you yesterday but no reply so far, is the eheim 1250 still available? where is your location.
  7. Make sure the point you use is connected directly to the house ELCB point, if not you might just create an overload.
  8. Most of the time it is rolled up, so work in the same direction. I find using a credit card have more control.
  9. Do you have the manual? I can email it to you if you need.
  10. To drill it yourself you risk breaking your tank and make a mess of your place when that happens. Especially if it is a used tank. Try this link http://www.aquarealms.com/forum/viewtopic....highlight=drill
  11. I'll take one from your place let me know when to collect
  12. You can also use plastic mesh wrap it around the whole powerhead. You need the distance to the inlet to save the weaker LS
  13. Yes Hot Tea and a little lemon will do the trick.
  14. Tigershark, I'm not so sure if pine wood is an ideal solution to house a sump, I suppose that is what silver2578 is looking for. I don't think the anti-rust paint cost a lot money, but certainly to do it yourself, we can ensure that the coat is very well dried before we apply the look nice paint on top. Cheers
  15. I beg to differ from Tigershark's Method ... I won't recommend using additional plank, I presume Tigershark is refering to the planks from Ikea as well. Having 2 planks does not mean that it will be stronger, overtime the 2 planks somehow fused together will warp differently. What you need is to increase the structure strength. If you must use Ikea plank why not the method I describe. Use a metal stand as the structure and secure the planks from Ikea onto the stand.
  16. Depending on the power of the flow, your sand bed might not be as effective. I suppose you might like to relook at the layout. I think the principal to create a dead water zone is not quite what I see. Your CR should be submerged. Don't quite understand the 2 outlet thing. As others have said, it is good to watch the weight. Maybe build it into your hood so that the weight is spread even on the 4 glass panel. Do not rest it on the bracing that is really not wise. Why 7" height? Cheers
  17. Just to share my thoughts about Ikea stuff ... It never last ... The only thing that I bought from Ikea that last is a solid high chair for my daughter - 3 years and still good. I do shop in Ikea for things that I don't need to last, as the price is good. Have you seen Ikea V shape bookshelf? I have after 1 year. I will suggest a proper stand or cabinate. If you are into DIY, I cover my metal stand with wood to make it look good in my living room. So maybe you can use the salvage panels from your old Ikea cupboard for this purpose.
  18. Thanks guys, thought of converting one of my spare pump into a shit collector. Thanks for the advice, will experiment with the Y connector with a shut off valve or tap. Cheers
  19. I have tried DIY drip plate using those rectangle disposable containers lid and cut holes in them using a hole puncher those used for leather belts. It works very well, you can vary the hole size in the middle with small ones and bigger ones on the sides. I figured, you want more even distribution, so encourage water to flow thru out instead of concentrate on the centre where the inled feed. Cheers
  20. Have anyone tried connecting two pumps together to go into into one outlet pipe. How do you do that? Thanks
  21. Please be careful as not all fluid pumps uses the same technology as a ceiling fan. Burning the pump is quite a definite outcome if it is not suitable. However, the torque takes time to build up as well as the heat, you won't know when. For knowledge, get a student in electrical engineering who major in power to explain to you. My knowledge is 15 years old so a little rusty. For practicality, get a low wattage pump with a low flowrate. You don't want Fire insurance company to find something like this in your house and take a cut from your claim. Cheers
  22. This is my first post ... as for pre-cut wood you can check with your local hardware shop. First design the hood to exact measurement then show it to the hardware shop they should be able to supply the wood. The other place I know is Opposite the New World Centre (the place that they sell a lot of kitchen ware in Jalan Besar) there is a shed and they will help to cut the wood for you, but you have to buy the whole plank which is 4 x 6 I think. The other thing that I would like to embark is working with arcylic, it is pretty fun too.
