  1. I was indeed referring to the QUALITY or should I say LACK of Quality..The FOB price for Marshall Island Flames is less then fingers on a hand........
  2. Like I said.. all smaller Flames are mostly solid of red color.. but they can fade in time.. Please tell me the entire story like time frame and so on.. Diet could well be part of the game as well but once again you do not give me much to get hold on... I will welcome all input from you as always!
  3. Very common thing !! SMALL ( better even tiny) Flame Angels are much deeper in red color then the large ones BUT!!!! it all depends on collecting area... Again all tiny and small are more or less equal. The orange center ones ( orange/red) come VIA Hawaii from Marshall Islands .. and are mostly poor quality. If I tell you how they are collected you would NEVER buy them!! The pure solid orange center are bigger in size and originate from Christmas Island. AC Shepardi is much to prefer over these ones!! The true BLOOD RED ones ( even when XXL) are Nick Named Centropyge flammeus and come from DEEP-WATER Hawaii but!! most like a couple of dozen per year only.. Christmas Island and Marshall Island 'Flames "are CHEAP.... only a few dollars FOB ( free on board).... Most expensive ones a the dozen or so deepwater collected ones from Hawaii Flames from Philippines are red, but do vary also. They are more expensive and of good quality ( since I ship them... ha ha)... Well, I hope this answers to your need for an answer. . Cheers ( although I never drink) Johan
  4. Well we at least are getting somewhere Mr. Tea; The Singapore reef scene, or should I say majority of sales people ,are B***** ignorant and have the $$$ burned on their Retina ... Since plenty of so called " Reputably Importers" don,t want to spend some honest money on better fish, your country is one of the BIGGEST dump places for $%^&# Philippine fish. Plenty of your importers live by the credit given by the exporters in Manila..Others don,t even pay their bills like A***M***** She has a reputation here longer then my arm. So Yes you are right again... Awareness.. Well that is one of my favorite topics. As a matter a fact I started out as youngster two years older then you are now as a professional importer. Importing from the country that was so much more advanced then all others.. SINGAPORE!! Mind you my first marine tank I had when I just got 14, most likely you were about the same? Now here comes the difference; there was no internet and all books were in GERMAN written so.. I learned a couple of foreign languages ... Info from the Website ; the glorious FISHBASE.ORG from here, the Philippines ,is even wrong in several matters......in other words Nobody is perfect, thus we should or could use phrases like "might be, could well be, have no clue...".At least that is honesty at its best and nobody is misleading ......or get mislead IPSA SCIENTIA POTESTAS EST!- Knowledge is power! Now question yourself: Did arguing with me brought us together or....... In many matters you are indeed a worthy opponent,no question about that.. It is just that I want to bring the best out of you . You still have a long way to go but... pretty sure you will get there!! Cheers to you Mr. Tea!
  5. It can be obtained from Aquarmarine in Sri Lanka... the foremost exporter of Sri Lanka . Andy always has been having Red Sea items, even when the entire region was closed. I know MAJOR importers that buy from him......
  6. First : keeping two marginalis successfully does not mean that it is an easy fish.. You might just have lucked out!! Since you are 19 only , what happened with the two said species, how long did you keep them , I mean; did you buy them when you were 13 years old and did they just died recently?? Second, : Mulleri does indeed feed well. in the start.. they break down little by little.....expression is Arrogance..I believe.. And finally your post are mostly incomplete........ some very important matters are not written here and could well lead to mistake being made by those that take all you write for granted.. So , come to think of it, not really all that much against you, right? And being a moderator on a forum either here or Reefbuilders.. Most people you ask for the "job" would say: NO THANK YOU!!! Guess it has to do a lot with exhibitionism, wanting to be in the spot light...
  7. Asia well all know there are Asian people among the European and USA citizen as well...... Buddha teaches to show respect to all living creatures... Hmmm.... Guess it is the same as with Christianity... all went up in smoke....
  8. You forget to tell that both Marginalis and Mulleri are from moderate water mainly.... Guess that could not be found on the internet during your survey.... Mulleri is NOT a strong fish and Marginalis is even very hard to keep... Not copied from the internet but by own experience over all the decades.... First of said species entered into the European market in the late 70',by me... Both fish for EXPERTS ONLY... The MAJORITY on keeping Marine Ornamental Fish published on the entire internet is sheer NONSENSE except when written by a well known marine Hobbyist or Scientist... People tend to copy done literary everything and rewrite somewhat to give it a "life of it own"...
  9. What a nice pictures indeed! After 36 hours w\swimming in low PH, high urine in the water and at complete dark undergoing shock and stress. Take the fish from the bag, put it in your hand out of the water and F L A S H .. the camera. Are we forgotten that a fish eye is 11 times more sensitive than the human.. O well, it is only a fish right.........And once paid for it you OWN that fish life ,right??? To be frank with all you hobbyist.... This would NEVER happen in Europe or the USA It is a habit among Chinese only!!
  10. Correct, Tiny ones are collected in the mangroves and their typical swimming behavior resembles "swimming flatworms"............. Predators tend to stay away of that as we know ... Cute but needs detritus and somebody with experience.. Next topic, please
  11. First of all they are NOT half Clown and half Sweetlip. They are just Sweetlips and get H U G E in size .. then again their taste is good so... Tiny ones are cute but hard to keep they feed on detritus just like baby Platax pinnatus.. They can be kept well together but since they grow so large and quick...
  12. i owned the only export stations in the 80'in the Red Sea. The C. paucifasciatus is nowhere common ,yet on several place easier to be found. They even occur in one meter deep along the shore among rock.
  13. Well, might just work, than again depends on when the fish was collected.. should be done right after collection to get the max out of it... Just went this morning to Cartemar..... no need to write here as we are most likely the only "pinoy" here on the forum... A true shame that this still goes on after so many decades...
  14. Well this discussion can drag on for years, but still worth to follow. Mind you for all fish that is hard to feed, lately we have frozen Cyclop-eeze .. Comes in various grades and is eager eaten even by fish we normally tend to say.. "I give you hardly any chance ".. Pure or " in the mix " all fish will eat it as soon as it is administered to the tank..... Beside that crustaceans ( Lysmanta) but also Trimma like fish and even Mandarins !! LOVE IT... After a few days they notice when the feeding frenzy will take place and get to the surface!! Enjoy!! For those new to the hobby Cyclop-eeze is NOT Cyclops !! But more related to Calanus finmarchius. It is nowadays considered as a "must" for Reef Tanks . I use it on my Tubastrea aurea and others....Polyps extend enormous in NO TIME!!
  15. Glad to have some people looking it "my Way "therefore being "Our Way "indeed!!
  16. Over the years things have changed in the hobby... You see in the earlier days a fish like that would have end up in the store to grow old as nobody took interest... Not a perfect specimen they would say.. Now all in a sudden we are into other matters.Nevertheless, this angel though , it looks fine with me.But what to think of all the breeding and heading for "as weird as possible" I remember some 30 years ago a diver brought me a P. hepatus with no tail ( natural not grown).. We returned it to the reef in front. Hmm. Last week I receive a request from one of my Taipei buyers "Do you ever have fish without a tail to offer ? "... I prefer natural Amphiprion occelaris over "snowflake, Picasso "or what other weird name they come.. Are we now facing a marine "Guppy" hype ??"Next thing is Ranchu Percula Clwon. Riyaku Percula Clown , Fan tail percula clown or what about the all time favorite Lion Head Percula Clown.... They tell me "beauty is in the eye of the beholder "...... My opinion ,which I am sure is not yours.... Sad development!!
  17. Cyanide does NOT leave ANY external evidence behind!!! That is utterly C and B!!!! Cyanide leaves internal superficial burn marks , resembling what happens if you drink your coffee right from the kettle.. It is only the ill transport and stocking that does the lethal harm. This said over using Cyanide in common and "well administered" if one can use that expression here. However just JUICE sprayed into the water or "gunned" into the water ( Bali) is a matter of overdoses and will lead to a certain death..... Safe to use is Quinaldine and Hypnodil.... No harm to the fish nor reef.... Common in practice in Florida Cure for Cyanide collected fish is extreme easy.. Sodium thiosulphate.. Better known as Chlorine remover AKA Aqua-safe...
  18. The answer is unquestionable obvious.. that one still needs to be collected.......
  19. Live Aquaria is a mail order company. The have NO facility of their own and buy from Quality Marine In LAX... If you see something fish or Shrimp offered "Cebuan"... well you will know how the source is ha ha.. Anyway...... They want to appear like professionals but know actual shit from Shinola about it all... Just a mail order company , that's all!!
  20. May I learn what you refer to as a sixline wrasse. we have several fishes ( wrasses) go by that name.... I guess you mean P. hexataenia?? Hexataenia is a US$ 0,40 fish ,so don,t expect to much of it I would say.... Perhaps you should avoid a fish like that or get your stuff elsewhere?? If we talk the same species , they come in from Bali. Bali nowadays uses MORE CYANIDE than the Philippines in their "Glorious days ".... They only name it "Tuba"which is a mixture of Cyanide and squeezed Sea Cucumber.. far more toxic and harmful... Within a few years Bali will be wiped out on fish and only invertebrates left...
  21. We collect at Bicol Z. scopas which is almost silver color and yellow fins/tail.. looks good.. better then those to be frank Shame I am a poor photographer otherwise I could make pictures.. Today we shipped to Germany Mimic tang which is mimicry of the hybrid Lemonpeel and half black angel... Pretty cool fish.. black tail and dark trims.. rest of body pale yellow..just like the hybrid angels looks!! Good perhaps be a hybrid of A chronixis and pyropherus...
