  1. IMHO, if this is fish only tank, it doesn't matter whether is dead or live rock. Since even if you use live rock, the coraline algae will disappear after a while due to the lack of strong light (MH type), and calcium/kh (unless you want to dose kalkwasser in a fish only tank). So either way, both will look like dead rock after a while. But for reef tank, you need to be careful. Make sure you know the source of the dead rock and it is not exposed to copper. More importantly, need to check to make sure it does not continuously leech out phosphate which will become a long term problem for you.
  2. With such beautiful and healthy corals, you can tell the husbandry skill of borinz is very solid. Bro, Can you share more on your secret with us?
  3. That will be the best solution for you since you don't want to run an additional pipe to the main tank. Plus you won't be recirculating chilled water.
  4. Lots of gems bro. Congratulations on the beautiful tank. BTW, are you feeding your blasto? What do you feed them with? Thanks, Patrick
  5. I think you can. But the problem is, you cannot just top up reef builder with out dosing Calcium with the same proportion. Otherwise, you will soon find yourself having ionic imbalance in your tank. Coz Kh and Cal have to have balance proportion. Also, it is not recommended to mix reef builder with Calcium advantage as they tend to cancel each other out. So you have to dose reef builder one day, and Calcium advantage the next.
  6. Feel that it is not worth the money as there is really not that much function. Lucky company pay for it, would not buy it myself. So far hanged twice and once in the morning coz me to wake up late for work due to the alarm didn't go off.
  7. Yes, confirm they can move. Mine is moving around on the sandbed. If you want to stop them moving, put rocks around them.
  8. Bros, Thanks so much for the forum urls. I will check them out. BTW, any good installer that you would recommend? Good workmanship and honest installer? Thanks.
  9. Thinking of doing some upgrading for my ICE (In Car Entertainment) with DVD and TV tuner and change out the woofers etc. Any one got good lobang of good dealers in Singapore? Interested in brands like Rockford Fosgate and Alpine. Anyone know of any ICE forum in Singapore? Thanks.
  10. A school of PBT is indeed a sight to behold. But I don't think you going to be successful in a confined space of a small aquarium. On the other hand, a public aquarium of 20,000gal is a different story.
  11. In your poll you don't have an option for "reliable chiller". And that's what I would choose.
  12. Mind out of gutter indeed. hahaha. But you said "virgin until married", that implies that after married it is no longer..... hahahaha
  13. Interesting. Tell us more. May be can start from the gay pub (Niche) nightmare....what happened? Never heard that a gay will convert to straight. Did your wife have any doubt in you? May be you were just bisexual?
  14. That's interesting. How do people feel or treat you when they think you are gay? What happens when some real gay on the net thinks that you are gay and try to approach you? Does your wife know that you are posting as gay on the net?
  15. mUAr cHEe, I thought you like man? Sorry if I make a mistake.
  16. Great to hear that Coral Reef Aquarium is coming forward to explain their position. I guess it is not uncommon that some companies want to perform the maintenance themsselves after the equipment is commissioned. However, reef tank is not something that can be handled by just any unexperienced staff. So I would urge Coral Reef Aquarium that while they plan to build up their expertise to maintain the reef tank, at the same time, they should consider outsourcing the maintenance work for the first few months to a year to some experience LFS like Harlequin to maintain for them. It is actually cheaper and less heartache to pay the outsource fees for the first few months than to pay the money for the replacement stock.
  17. RBTA is beautiful, but unless you keep them in a specie specific tank, it can be a time bomb waiting to explode. When it start to roam around the rock, it will be like a bulldozer, flattening out everything and leave nothing behind. That's why a lot of senior reefer started the tank with anemone and clown fishes, but a year later, the anemonies are no longer in the tank.
  18. Too me, 200 is a fair price if the clam can last for 5-10 years. Unfortunately, I don't seems to have luck keeping clam for long term. Heard that they need high KH and Cal to thrive. So I'm not doing to pour 200 down the drain. Anyone has success keeping clam long term?
  19. I think the comments in (...) are really funny. hahaha
  20. My cynarina didn't open when I put it on the sandbed. Only when I moved it up close to the top near the 250w MH, then it started to open up nicely. So I'm not sure if it is true that cynarina doesn't like strong light. Same thing goes with my red prata.
  21. Bro Rocks is really helpful. Even took the time to draw the pic. Remember with this, you still need a valve at the sump to control, otherwise your water level will be like elevator going up and down. And when it reach the hole at the bottom, it will create loud noise.
  22. No problem. Hope it works for you. Just don't turn the flow too low that your return is faster than your drain and you will end up having a dry sump and flood the main tank.
