Thanks to all for the replies. I have gone for Salt-Mix as its only 10g and am worried about parasites in NSW. Have put in LRs given by a kind reefer as well as existing LRs from my pico tank. Do I still need to dose bacteria since already using LRs?

Hi, Need some advise and comments on which is better when starting up a new 10 gallon tank. Should I go for Natural Salt Water (NSW) or stick with Salt-mix, which I'm currently using for my pico tank. If NSW, which LFS do you think sells the best pre-filtered and cleanest NSW? Thanks.

If your pump is not fully submerged in water, it will be sucking air and pumping out bubbles. The lifespan of your pump will also be affected. If your pump is fully submerged in water, and you still get bubbles being pumped out. Then maybe there is a crack somewhere on the pipeline or joints are not sealed properly.

Not sure if it will work, but you could try placing a plastic container next to the whole but lower. See if they will fall in when they come out at night.

Brittle stars are good scavengers. Unless its the green type, I think. If you feel you have too much in your tank, I'm sure many reefers would be glad to relieve you of some. Including me

Cut off that strand of algae with the aiptasia and throw away. Don't try to remove/pluck/cut the aiptasia directly, may cause it to spread.

Looks like an Isopod, should be bad. Your Macro damn good man!

Thanks bro, yes it does look like a type of Munnid Isopod. Hope that is correct, as article says Munnids are good. Else, I'm in trouble if its a parasitic isopod.

Hi, Recently noticed some pods in my nano tank. Its body is approx 2mm length. (pls forgive the quality of the pics) I can't tell if they are Isopods, Copepods or Amphipods. Can anyone help ID? I have positively identified Copepods in tank, very small, approx 1mm. But these new pods looks different. Where does all these pods come from? Am using NSW, so maybe thats how they were introduced into the tank.

Yes, did not rule that out, but would like to look at market available options first. Whats the estimate cost of custom made tank in this size? Can advise?

So if it is possible that NSW used for water changes can contain parasites like ICH. Then the purpose of QT new fishes, corals, even LR, is defeated, unless one is using self-mixed salt water for water changes. Right?

Hi, I'm not sure if anybody have ever wondered or questioned....it is highly recommended to QT all new fishes before introducing them into your main display tank. This serves many purposes, with one being to prevent parasites, like ich, from being transferred into the display tank. Parasites could be carried on the fish body, but it could also be free floating in the water that the fish is shipped in. What about the NSW that we purchase from any lfs? Are the NSW treated differently from the NSW that the fishes are swimming in? If not, isn't there a possibility that parasites are also present in the NSW we are using for routine water changes? So when we do water changes, we are risking introducing parasites into the main display tank? Would appreciate if anyone with better understanding on this matter to advise, thanks.

Hi, can someone help tell if this is diatom or somethng else? It started appearing again, just 1 day after I scrubbed the LR clean of them. Would really appreciate some advise and help on this. Thank you.

Found this worm crawling out yesterday. Is this a Bristle Worm? It's about 1-2mm diameter, and at least 4-5cm long, but cannot confirm as it did not come out fully. Should I remove it from the tank? Is it bad? Or should I just leave it? IMG_4141.MOV

Hi, can someone help ID this strange "bulb". Its just next to my Yuma, but I doubt its part of the Yuma though. It feels soft to the touch. Was suspecting if its some sort of sponge. Should I remove it? Thanks.

Thanks MadScientist, but I can't find any info on this 20cm size. Smallest I find from auqazonic is 45cm.

Hi peeps, Can anyone recomend a good LED light for a 8"W x 8"L x 10"D pico? Was looking at Beamswork's LED but it seems the smallest is still 12" length. Unless I'm not looking at the right catalog. Thanks.
