  1. Yes, the cloudiness is due to bacterial bloom. You should leave the prawn to decompose. Anyway, do not stock anything until ammonia and nitrite reads 0 ppm.
  2. Holy shit! AquaMarin is moving soon? It's near my place.
  3. I saw your thread on your aquarium and the home made cover post! Brilliant.
  4. Your aquarium is vibrantly colorful and scaped beautifully. It's amazing to know your aquarium runs on so little equipment. The corals look bright and happy. I notice many reefers are now using the Maxspect Razor LED since it throws out such soothing ambient lights and enhances the colours of the reef. It's a shame the tangs didn't do well. Which ones did you try out? Separately, did you DIY your own tank cover? I see a mesh of sorts, presumably to keep your inhabitants eg. firefish, from flying out?
  5. A lot of the leather corals are easy. Your current lighting is not possible to sustain most sps, but one of the easiest and least demanding sps is Montipora.
  6. I'm not sure many bosses support or allow such big setups in the office, especially with all the power trips and water leaks, unless they are reefers too. Personally, setting up a 5 feet tank in the office is a huge investment too. Imagine all the equipment, fishes and corals you would be putting in. The water change is going to be challenging as well. Your gf won't be happy that you spend more time in the office on the aquarium. Do think twice on your decision.
  7. Actually I don't think it's advisable to add any sps after a month because your water parameters are not stable yet. Anyway, your photos are too dim and I guess it's a bird's nest. Did you check with the seller what you bought?
  8. Their shipment came in last Fri and I was there on Mon. I saw some sps eg. Acropora, bird's nest, usual gsps, cup, bubble corals. Not many fishes though.
  9. It's probably the overflow losing siphon and sucking a lot of air instead. Be careful because once the siphon breaks and no one is around to rectify it, no water goes to your sump and the remaining water from the sump gets pumped back to your main tank. There could be dire consequences eg. main tank overflows and floods your place, pump in sump becomes overheated causing power trip when sump runs dry. If prolonged without intervention, your main tank may crash.
  10. I feel keeping a sun coral is akin to jogging in that they both require lots of discipline. You have to be very focused and feed the coral conscientiously just like you need to train continuously for jogging. When you do not keep up the feeding, it weakens and deteriorates just as when you take a long break from training, your stamina is gradually lost. I sprinted for about 2 months then stopped. Now I completely gave up already.
  11. I agree with bro grouper that you should gradually ramp up your light intensity output to prevent shocking your corals, which may react adversely by bleaching.
  12. I believe you need to dose all 3 colours to strike a balance?
  13. These few days, the temperature of my pico tank, the one without fan, spiked at 32 deg. My gosh.
  14. The beautiful sun is your reward for your dedication and commitment.
  15. There are many types of Gonio. Some are easier than others. Look at the piece when you buy it. If you see a lot of skeleton than the tentacles, don't choose it.
  16. I read quite often that the Skimz overflow box commonly has the bubble problem, causing that siphon to stop. Just be mindful if you are getting it.
  17. Your sps and Zoas are remarkable!
  18. Your tank is beautiful with a range of sps with amazing polyps extension. I don't recall seeing any chiller in your setup. What is your average temperature and how do you keep the temperature low enough for sps? What additives do you dose for the beautiful colours and pe?
  19. I started with 4 clams and am down to 1 currently. Here's what happened. I bought a clam from Sea Life last week and introduced it to my office tank but it died soon after. I then transferred 1 that was doing well for months to my house tank. My 2 clams in the home tank were doing well for a while but I suddenly lost 1 of them together with the 1 just transferred over from the office over the last 2 days. All 3 (2 from office and 1 at home) showed the mantle retraction. Just last night, I found my hermit crab and cleaner shrimp tearing pieces of flesh from one of the 2 retracted ones. That was when I knew the second one was gone. Now I'm left with 1 healthy specimen. I'm crossing my fingers that nothing will happen to it. Sad.
  20. Well, there wasn't any noticeable change in my tank when I used it in the HOB filter. So I transferred it to a Satellite Breeder Box where the air pump delivers oxygenated water to the box. There's still no change yet.
  21. Oh my gosh. I'm speechless. This can happen to anyone but I guess it inflicts more on those with sps since there are more chemicals and dosing involved? Incidentally, are there anyone who suffered really bad allergies after handling some corals? I hope your condition is better now. Take care.
  22. The sps colonies are amazing! Hope all's well now that the mystery of the dying colonies is solved.
  23. It's gorgeous. How long did it take to grid from the 3 heads to this fireball? How do you feed it since its on a rock?
