Only the smaller size clams need to be fed phytoplankton. The rest will just filter feed from the water column no need additional feeding

Maybe u wanna try getting a salifert nitrate test kit. It is more reliable. And yes carbon dosing is safe for fishes and corals.

Can try redsea nopox or aquaforest nitrophos minus or just vinegar. But do read up first and start slow

Whats ur setup like? Any skimmer, chaeto, ats? If have skimmer can do carbon dosing. But go slow dont suddenly drop ur nutrients too much

Don't think the hair algae is due to temperature. It can grow in low temperature as well. It is mainly due to nutrients in the tank
