  1. Could it be a flameback? (centropyge acanthops)
  2. Wah liew eh! Good friend still want to charge GST?
  3. Wah! You're really not taking any chances are you? Really admire your patience and commitment to ensuring the best for your fish. How're your fish doing in the Q-tank anyway?
  4. Don't need me to tell the whole world...acidjazz already said in his post! So you gonna help me do my rock scaping or not???
  5. Haha! So the old man's back sore already or not? I suppose if it were me, I'd cycle for abt 2wks at least. Gonna cycle my new tank for abt 6mths myself! Typical kiasu Singaporean lah! But actually will start cycling around next week and won't move into my new flat til Nov/Dec so will not risk adding livestock til then. Will still drop by abt a coupla times a week to clean the flat and to check that everything's ok. In the meantime , can't wait to see Vincent's and your masterpiece! Cheers!
  6. Wah seh! Looks like we all REALLY know who to look for help! BTW, are you going to directly pipe the beckett outlet to the sump through the holes you drilled? Or how are you going to pipe the outlet from skimmer?
  7. Ohhhhhhh! So you were the friend Vincent was helping to rescape his tank! I called him at abt 2. So how's the rescape going? Pics leh!
  8. Not your fault Jaslyn, just VERY wrong advice given to you by the 2 lfs. Now's a good time to proper advice from the rest of the bros and sis and this forum's a good place to start! I've personally learnt alot from everyone here. All the best and remember to post any questions you have.
  9. ...And it also helps if you have a workshop full of equipment to use! Great job! now we all know who to look for! BTW, when you connecting your beckett?
  10. Wah, which lfs is that? Can just dump in 10 damsels within 3 days and then when they die can add royal gramma, maroon clown, yellow goby and some more damsels! REALLY open case of 'an irresponsible lfs'! How can they just 'makan' a new reefer like that? Anyway, as the bros here have mentioned, take it slow and gather more info. This forum's a GREAT place for doing just that! All the best, Jaslyn!
  11. Wah Shiok man! Looks like you had a great time diving. How much was your package?
  12. ...and let's hope everyone WON'T jump on the bandwagon again like before (during the nemo craze)! Just hope they'll find out more before committing to the hobby.
  13. Hi, Do you mean 1ft clearance between the tank and the lights for servicing and maintenance of the tank? If so, definitely not enough coz you'll need to be able to ensure that your whole arm (right up to your shoulder) can fit into that gap while your fingertips can reach the bottom of the tank, without getting burnt by the MH. Even better if you can fit your whole head+shoulders into that gap for proper servicing and maintenance. Otherwise, you can consider a removable lighting hood or a lighting rack that can be removed or slid out of the way. Hope the info helps! Cheers!
  14. Hi, Definitely agree with what the rest of the bros are saying. Generally, the bigger the tank, the wider the margin for errror. Still, that doesn't mean you can neglect your tank maintenance chores. Try to get the biggest tank you can afford together with the equipment. Try not to hurry and get kan-chiong and end up buying a smaller set-up and then later decide you wanna upgrade. All the best for your new set-up! Cheers!
  15. A little birdie told me... Erm, you mean Mr Sih? Yup, he's still the P there. Cannot find another P like him man! He's the best coz he'll take you under his wing and guide you! Sigh...wish there were alot more P's like him. Ooops! again. Will pm you.
  16. Wow! Natural looking mini reef! Nice!
  17. Join the club! Same for all except the diving part...decided to put on hold on list of priorities. As for the job and pay, well can't do much on a teacher's salary unlike teachers from the 'old days'...super rich man! But then again...like being with and teaching the young-uns!
  18. Haha! join the club! Think I spend about few minutes each night thinking about the tank setup before I sleep man! ...and that just before I sleep, not to mention the times when I'm at work, out shopping...etc. Not very healthy!
  19. Eh, That means you're only 1 year older than me. I was from Saints so we were from same era and were probably nemeses then!! Did you play rugby? Ooops! Sorry! Seriously
  20. I think I remember him...though my brother and I used to call him 'Mr B#yee' (and of course he never heard us say that). And remember the croc enclosure at the bottom of the stairs as well as the piranha tank at the top stairway landing? BTW, heard you were a teacher before and married to someone in the RSAF? Hmmm...suppose you're in Texas now? Used to be in the Air Force and am teaching in AMKPS now.
  21. I see! Well, looking forward to your post!
