  1. I'm still on ATI T5s so im waiting eagerly to hear from you guys and girls
  2. I guess for me personally it would be sps dominated tanks with some lps. Let's just say no budget at the moment and we can work down from there if needed haha. Tank size roughly from 3-5 ft, and 5-7ft. And also i just wanna hear what other reefers have to say about their lightings and their setups just for knowledge in the bank!
  3. Ah! Okay, thanks for the replies guys! it will be a condo so hopefully the developers are okay with it...Now it's less about the length and more about how much weight it can hold i guess haha. and of course..it wont be the only tank in the house
  4. Hi all, There are a plethora of LED lighting brands right now, and I was wondering what you guys think of the few top brands? Orphek, maxspect, Radion etc. And what are the pros and cons of both and what you would like to change/modify bout your current LED lighting of choice? Debating between the few for various tank ideas I have in mind, and thought i'd tap on the extensive knowledge of you fellow reefers!
  5. Hi all! I recently starting keeping marine fish again and got into reefing, and the poison has run extremely deep... So, now, after a few months and with a new place to live coming up, I had initially decided to commission a 7ft x 3 x 2.5 (LxWXH) tank into a faux wall in the living room as a divider to another room. This was all very exciting till i realized I'm on the 8th floor and the floor might not hold 1-1.5 tons of weight... My question to you awesome reefers is, have any of you kept a fish room or something a similar size in non-landed house situation? If so, how can i make sure the tank will not collapse the floor? I heard i can engage structural engineers and all that, but how much would that run and what else would i have to do? Permits? Any thoughts of the situation would be great Thanks in advance! *I have plans on making it a large sps dominated reef tank or predator reef tank! But if that size is not possible....i'll have to play around with other dimensions. Thanks!
  6. Thanks for your replies all! I guess i'll look into getting a UV sterilizer. I have sps and other inverts in there so lowering the salinity too much might be a problem. I will definitely try out the garlic as i've been reading a lot about it. Thanks guys!
  7. Hi all! So. I have been ravaged by the Ich as well. I added my first yellow tang in there last month and it was fine for abit, then developed white spots, and didnt eat still and i thought he was a goner. But 4-5weeks later, he is still here and fat and eating. But he is still randomly getting white spots for a few days and then it disappears back into the sand bed for the ich to continue it's cycle. But other than that, he is fine and eating everything and getting bigger, as with my algae blenny. However, i added a smallish juvi emperor to my tank and it was eating from day one and was doing great for a week, till one day i woke up and it had white spots and was having trouble breathing. it died after 3 days after contracting ich. But my YT and all my other live stocks are fine. I made sure to get a healthy, eating emperor before attempting to add it in because i was confident it would tank the ich and be okay after. So, here is my question. How do you guys deal with Ich? do you buy healthy new specimens and hope it can tank the ich before it dies? or let the tank fallow out and not add fish till the ich cycle is dead. But the problem with the latter is that, ich seems pretty hard to extricate entirely and it may come back to haunt me after 10 weeks of letting it lie empty. This is very frustrating :/ but one of the things we have to deal with. So, what is the best way you guys deal with it? Looking forward to hearing from you bros!
  8. Dude, this is an incredible build! I'm looking for ideas for my next tank project and i hope you dont mind if I hit you up soon about some ideas/tips!
  9. I saw several baby clown triggers at ML @ clementi last week
  10. Lots of cool stuff at MarineLife at Clementi today when i went down at 4+, they were sorting their new shipment out. Saw a pair of deep water japanese big eyes. lots of flames and yellow tangs, copper bands, long nosed butters, clowns, mandarins etc.
  11. Saw some of those coco's at CF yest too. And i must say, they look very good in person. Saw 2 Golden Angels, one real tiny one and a normal sized 2-3inch one as well.
  12. oh wow! how much are those clarions going for? out of curiosity.
  13. AquaMarine just got in their Hawaiian shipment. Bunch of yellow tangs and Flame angels mostly. Tested a few of the Flames and most took straight to pellets. Got one for myself! Last i checked, they had sexy shrimp too. Didn't see them today though. Didn't look for them too though.
  14. Im not sure what the skimmer is because it came with the Ocean Free setup. but the Wavemaker is a hydor 900l/hr and i have a hang on the back AquaWorld cooling fan (its not very quiet lol. i turn it on when im out and the air conditioning is off, other wise my tank is chill enough with the aircon)
  15. about 30x30x35cm its Ocean Free 3 and a hydor 900l/hr
  16. Hey guys! Thanks for the feedback. I will be transferring some rocks over soon to another tank to help seed it so i'll have more space. I didnt know how much rock to get initially at first and got 1 - 2 piece too many. A vertical wall simulating the drop off of a reef was my intention but it doesnt look like its too practical haha. There is indeed a lot of gunk at the back but hopefully the clean up crew has been at it! I bought a wave maker to possibly help with circulation. I love the wavemaker still but it isnt fulfilling what I set out for it to do lol. The lighting is just blue/white LEDs 12k. Came with the setup. Thanks! Will post updates if i do change it soon!
  17. Hello! New to the forum, going to stop being a lurker and post pics of my setup to see what you guys and girls think and how I can improve and learn! Set it up a couple of weeks ago and things look good! Decided to go with a bare bottom instead of DSB. I have a skimmer going on at the back with biohome/coral chips/foam. Have a hang on the back fan going on too. Also threw in a small wavermaker I currently have about 9 corals. Started with a Zoa and a torch and added on into suncoral and a green star polyp. Rounded that all out with a hammer branch, bubble coral and a candy cane! lastly I threw in a Xenia on the top and it has only been a week but man that thing is growing like wildfire. Corals seem to be doing great! Sun coral not fully opened yet but growing new heads already. i also have 3 heads of yuma (sp?) on one of my live rock! Freebie ftw! Invertebrate wise I have 2 peppermint shrimps (because aiptasia ><), 1 cleaner shrimp, 1 fire shrimp, 1 porcelain/anemone crab. Buncha bumblebee snails and lightning dove snails and random hitchhiker snails. I also have an evil gorilla crab thats lurking around somewhere. but he hasnt killed anything....so far... For fish i have only one Tailspot blenny so far and its really awesome. Always chills on the green star polyp. Looking to add a small Flame angel in the near future and call it a day with no more additional livestock. Although seeing all those Nox angel's at ah beng's really tempted me. This is the first of many reef tanks i will be building and this has been a cool learning experience! Would be cool to make new friends with the awesome reefers here! Cheers! Parting shot of porcelain crab with the blenny photo bombing! and other photos!
  18. I just got one from Marine Life @ Clementi yesterday . He said it was the only one left though but he did mention to check back again because they come in fairly often for him. Hope you find one, took me 2 weeks!
