  1. Thanks so much for advise bro! Yes it is very weird that it is only in a selected zone and affects any hammer/torch/frogspawn that I've placed there. It's literally a deathzone lol. Haha yes there's plenty of room for more corals and colours!
  2. Hi guys! It's been a long time, almost 3.5 months since I first added liverocks and water... have been really busy with work and other stuffs. Haha, meanwhile not much has been happening in my tank and its very EMPTY lol. I decided to let my tank mature first before adding more as I had 3 corals dead through brown jelly... no point wasting anymore precious life haha. Any idea what causes brown jelly? To control my algae, I've added algae benny and this guy is more hardworking than any of my CUCs. This guy has got character and is my fav fish! Things have also started stabilizing around the 3 months mark. Readings are NH3 0, NO2 0, NO3 10, KH 7.8, CA 500 (abit on high side). Thanks for reading ^^ Equipments Added a BM QQ skimmer that one of the kind bros here lend to me. It's really difficult to get any skimmate with the Hydra and my low bioload, however I feel it has its benefits as it does help in oxygenating the water. Removed all the bioballs and biofoam from my system. Not sure if related but I found that nitrate levels has stabilized. Change a T5 actinic blue into ATI Purple+. I love the colour and brightness, absolutely worth every cent. Corals Not much new addition here but some bros can't stand seeing how empty it is and gave me blasto, leather and hammer... a big thank you to the guys here for their big heart!
  3. Yikes... super nutritious, high protein meal lol.
  4. Hehe, never thought of keeping fan before but your fan is really too chio.
  5. Wow damn nice, any tips for keeping gonios bro?
  6. Hi bros, sorry for noob question but seafan need what type of flow?
  7. Hi bros, I've just gotten a DI unit which should help me a lot in controlling algae. Also was cleaning out my live-rocks due to suspected attacks on my fishes that were hiding in the caves. Every morning wake up to injured or partially eaten fishes, finally cannot tahan and went to work using a tweezers, torch and a pail of DI water. Lesson learnt for me, don't be lazy in curing live rocks... do it one time swee swee rather than having to tear down your tank. Free gifts:
  8. Oh no sorry to hear what happened bro. Hope all goes well for your new tank!
  9. Not an easy question to answer but most of us agree that Hydra is most effective when used to supplement your existing system. I'm currently running a Hydra only system but it's more of a trial for me and some bros here.
  10. Wow sir Law this is a stunning view of your already beautiful tank!
  11. Haha me too! I will test my water on Sunday once I'm back from visiting my in-laws. Meanwhile looking forward to all the good food in Batu Pahat hahaha.
  12. So cute, it looks like it's drinking milk!
  13. Wow the poison here is strong! Nice pictures bro, see already will think of trying some SPS!
  14. Thanks for the tips bro! Haha as long as not my fishes stress is ok keke. Thanks for reading although there's nothing much to see lol. Haha thanks for visiting my humble thread. So much to learn from you bros! Hahaha more for the chit chat right? Thanks for kind comments bro!
  15. Hi guys, Time really flies when you’re having fun! It’s been around 12 days since I first started the tank and I’m really enjoying the hobby as well as getting to meet new friends that I’ve known through the SG Reef Club forum. Besides some unsightly diatoms that started growing since Day 07, everything else is going fine thus far. I will probably let the diatoms grow out and hopefully it will go away in a week or two once it exhaust the silicates. Water has been crystal clear since the tank was started. The Hydra Stream seems to be coping well? Fingers crossed as I don't have any skimmers yet. Stocks added to date: Ocellaris Clownfish x 2 Turbo Sp. x 3 Nassarius Sp. x 2 Blood Red Fire Shrimp (Lysmata debelius) x 1 Goniopora x 1 Zoanthid x 1 Sponge Coral x 1 I realized my Gonio was botak at the bottom when I reached home, haha that's a lesson learn not to be too hasty when choosing. It also doesn't seem to be opening up well. Photo below was taken on day 2 of introduction. Is this normal or should I move it somewhere else?
  16. Good guess bro! Yes I'm a freshwater person for 10 years and never thought I will be poisoned... but... haha. Thanks for your advise on the fish guides, I'm going slow on the stocking as I'm still learning from all bros what goes best with what... and what to avoid. Oh you use the Hydra too? I'm also monitoring the hydra but I'm only less than 2 weeks in, will update bros here. Initial observations... Plus points. Livestock and zoas seems healthy. Water is crystal clear since the start. Neutral points. It seems to convert ammonia and nitrite really quickly but nitrate still remains. I will have to export the nitrates somehow. You mean the Reefstart bacteria? Haha they gave me that free with my tank and their new reef salt. Honestly I'm not very familiar with other reef products, but I find that it helps me start up my tank really quickly. I've done water tests 6 days into starting the tank with decomposing materials and the ammonia and nitrite are zero, so either the liverock are really good or the bacteria really works lol. Yes I really need the RODI, will go Malaysia see see look look. Hope can find good lobang there. Thanks Neutral! Marine is really not easy as there's more parameters to consider depending on what we're keeping. I'm still learning and guess the best way is through trial and error haha. No problem bro, thanks for sharing too on fish knowledge!
  17. Haha I won't! Just went shopping yesterday to get more CUC. Next up will be water change. I'll be heading to Malaysia for the weekend too so will also be looking at the RO/DI units there. Not sure if it will be cheaper with the conversion rate, but it's more common there. Thanks Tofubox, ultimately my aim is to have low stock qty of fish and just LPS. Low maintenance is important as I travel quite frequently. With my freshwater fishes, my wife tends to overfeed as the fishes always seem hungry to her
  18. Hi bro, that is beautiful. Kudos to you too for good advise given!
  19. Thanks for suggestions bros, I will use distilled water for my next water change while I look out for a used RODI system first. Guess there won't be any major updates until then. Happy reefing guys! I'll be back hehe.
  20. Hi Tofubox! The little ugly algae filaments are popping up on the glass and sand already. Given a limited budget between a skimmer and RO/DI system, should I make RO/DI the priority? Thanks in advance
