  1. Just got a small brown marine stingray, so far it's eating greedily but is far from being active, lying motionless on the sandbed for long periods of time. Has anyone had any experience keeping marine stingrays?
  2. I've kept an undulate before... to say that they are hardy is an understatement.. Undulate triggers are practically indestructible.
  3. My personal experience is that the coral banded shrimp will snip off the feelers of the cleaner shrimps. I introduced one into my tank which has a large blood shrimp and before long the coral banded had snipped off the feelers of the blood shrimp though the blood shrimp was so much bigger than the coral banded shrimp.
  4. Anyone seen anywhere selling pistol shrimps? And can tell me what colour? Thanks!
  5. Mix triggers if you like, but please avoid the undulate trigger!! It is THE fiercest trigger of all, and all your other fishes will succumb eventually... and this includes the clown trigger. It's just a matter of time, believe me. And i'm speaking from personal experience.
  6. Yes, you can put your fishes in hypo permanently... just ensure that if ever you decide to raise the S.G. back to normal seawater levels again, do so very very slowly or your fishes will die off. And yes, the live rocks will all become dead rocks and any inverts that you may have will confirm mati.
  7. If your longnose hawk was introduced AFTER your shrimps, then the chances are high that they will get along well together without problems.
  8. Well, the main complaint many aquarist have with it is that it likes to dig and topple corals and other immobile tankmates over. It won't nip on corals and other sessile inverts though.
  9. In my experience, the red coris is a very pretty fish but too delicate to live in the tank for long...
  10. The tiny yellow spotted boxfish? Not easy to feed at all... I think feeding and ich are the major issues here with this fish. I couldn't get it to feed on anything at all.. tried everything from live brine shrimps to cyclopeeze to tiny flakes and it just starved itself to death.
  11. No way your shrimps will survive with the Picasso... just no way.
  12. How much does an octopus cost ah? The common octopus, mimic octopus etc..
  13. I just came back from Ah Beng's... hmmm... didn't see any wierd creatures leh... What i saw were all the usual stuff... cukes, blood shrimps, common boxster shrimps, lobsters, wrasses, triggers (got the pink-tail trigger), porcupinefishes, angels (emperor, majestic), tangs (no purple or yellow tangs, unfortunately), stingrays, sharks, hawkfishes, gobies, blennies, eels..... Didn't see any flame angels either.
  14. Hi fellow reefers! Saw this freshwater fish yesterday in Qianhu... was very interested by it, think it looks very unique and thinking of keeping it, but am trying to find out more about its aquarium needs.. Anyone kept it before? Can share your experiences? Would like to know more especially its water parameters needed and feeding matters etc. And is it a very rare fish? Cos I don't remember seeing it in local freshwater LFSes before leh... Qianhu is currently selling the tiny specimens for $10. Is it reasonable price? Thanks!
  15. There's a new marine LFS at Clementi Avenue 2 Blk 328 which is walking distance from Clementi MRT... i chanced upon it just now on my way to buy some aquarium equipment from its neighbouring shop. Small marine shop, few tanks, and prices are on the high side.
  16. Reborn like got no shipment this week leh... Just came back from Reborn, lots of empty tanks... but got lots of firefishes, sickly copperband butterflyfishes (last weekend's shipment??), a big cuttlefish (this one is very beautiful, unlike the small ones commonly available... just watch it change colour AND shape to camouflage with the pieces of live rock in the tank... i didn't spot it at first till my gf pointed him out to me ), a baby octopus. Corals also like not alot.. when i was there i saw them throwing away alot of dead corals from their tanks.
  17. Pistol shrimps should come out more often after it gets used to the tank... and the red pistol shrimps tend to be more outgoing than the Bullseye and Randall pistol shrimps.
  18. Saw a couple of them at Sealife on Wed... look damn healthy.
  19. How did it outsmart you? It escaped? Then it wasn't very smart... to escape to an environment where it can't live.
  20. Great! Do you happen to know how much they are selling the yellow-headed jawfish and the octopus for? Thanks! Yay! I'm finally free to go LFSing again!
  21. OMG!! How much are they selling it for? Hiya, but sure sold liao by now..
