  1. Reserved. i am selling because it cannot cope with my sps-dominated tank. LPS tank shouldnt have any problem. rdgs
  2. Usu hammer are quite hardy - it is usu affected by a few parameter - namely high nitrate ( > 30 ppm), temp (28 degreeswould be ideal ) and lighting (strong lights not needed generally 150W should suffice but I have try with 250W ... no ill effect though ) Hope it helps.
  3. Oops use my colleague' Id to reply ... hope there is no confusion ...
  4. acroporidae, Water in the main tank over flow the partition and flow down the durso to the sump and water from the sump pushes up into the area underneath the sandbed (a 2.5 - 3 inch space is created for this ) The return water pipe goes underneath the sandbed - so it will push (flow upwards) all the detritus from bottom to the top of the overflow - at the same time the heavier detritus will flow to the sump via a underflow created. The entire system is berlin style - as I am firm believer. And the system is created such that when you need to change water you just have to flush the water from the bottom and the water will reverse (flow downward) its direction which dislogde any detritus stuck in the sand bed. Hope it is clear. Thanks Jim & Lester for the kind words
  5. Your calcium level will drop very fast in such a small tank as your clams will suck the cal - once it drop the PH will also follow suit. I tried a tank slightly bigger than yours ... about 10 gallon ... I have to change 1/2 the tank water weekly .... I only kept 1 pipe fish and 1 boxfish... with no coral ... I tried not changing the water for 2 weeks .. both of them didn't make it. It really takes alot of effort for such a small tank ... you have to keep up with the husbandry ... no time slackening ... Good luck on your beautiful reef...
  6. Infact I like the mandarin very much but no luck as well .... personally I think it is quite difficult have a lot of pods in the tank to feed a mandarin ... if that is the case ... in most tank I dont think it is even feasible to have a mandarin in our aquarium in the first place. Currently there is a thread talking about keeping mandarin in the RC... there are also picture of the owner handfeeding the mandarin BS while the other fishes watches - pretty amusing. The other trick the owner use was placing the food in a small bottle such that only the mandarin could access the food where bigger fish cannot easily access them. I think if we could train the mandarin first in a separate tank using BS .. and then transfer them to the main tank once they got accustomed to the food .. then applying the bottle method - the chances of survival will be much higher.
  7. Rowas go full blast - I presume and put a foxface in there as well.
  8. I have slowed down alot in the past 5 months becasue we cant continue to stock up ... got to let these fellas grow... even sps looks so weird with aquacultured pieces ... the shape of the branches doesn't look so natural enough to have a nice natural looking reef ..... I cant agree any better with you acroporidae that we need some life ... other then colored sticks ....
  9. You can refer to this site for the picture . It does not come with media or CO2 set. http://www.aqua-macro.com/product.htm
  10. I advised strongly against the idea. You will have a problem to remove it in the later stage unless you want to keep prunning them. They can grow tremendously fast , every week you might find yourself very busy.. of course there are advantage as well ... but since your tank is so small - you might as well reserved the space for the corals rather macroaglae... Go with 1 pairs of nice fish (small)... and filled the rest with corals ... in that way your bioload will be totally under control..
  11. I have a Almost brand new macro calcium reactor for sale. Used for 1 month only. Selling for 95. brand new I think now is 130.
  12. Cool idea.. have been thinking about an acrylic tank for sometime but again not sure what kind of stratch remover they have in the market.
