Sorry to hear about your plight.Many of the bros and sis here have mentioned most of the points of keeping a marine tank.Before you jump into getting a bigger tank, I would advise you to do more research and plan.All home aquariams are limited, so you have to decide what you want to achieve.As for LS, not all are compatible with each other.Bottomline is patience.

I have run my tank skimmerless for three months without any problems.The only thing I did was increased my water changes to weekly.Now my skimmer is back on.

Sounds like red slime.Cyno normally clears off if you got good flow.

From my own experience, fish will not succumb to itch if they are not stressed.Parasites is always in the tank waiting to attack a stressed fish.The intro of your porcupine probably caused this. As for treatment, it is seldom successful.Gd luck

IMO, if your sandbed is not reducing your nitrates then probably it is just a pile of sand at the bottom of your tank.Thats why more reefers are going for BB or shallow bed.

So far the quakes are on the western side of Sumatra.Can't imagine one happening on the eastern side.

I bought epsom salt about a few months back and haven't used it.Still not convinced the sulphate accumulation will not have adverse effects.Would appeciate if any bro been using epsom salt regularly to give his/her views.

Used Redsea before for my water changes not knowing it was low in Mg (didn't have test kit at that time).Over time my tank overall Mg went down a lot.Now I use Instant Ocean.

Encountered this problem before.Did water changes but to no effect.It was then I found out that certain saltmix has low Mg.Make more water changes with a different saltmix but seem to increase only a little.After reading from a magazine, I discovered that my SG was at the lower end about 1.022.I set out increasing my SG to 1.025.Now my Mg problem is solved.
