  1. Read somewhere that every living things has P04.Maybe thats why P04 can come from the LR,LS food, etc.Anyone can confirm this?
  2. Bro Ken, maybe you can try starve the parasites to death by not intro any new fish for time being. Otherwise you got to treat your tank.
  3. Think many of us are caught in this property slum where the prices keep on dropping. The initial intent of this levy was due to the property boom about a decade ago.Not only do we see our assets being diminished, new flats are priced almost same price. We see more flats coming up with so many yet unsold.Dunno built for who? If the intention is for people to buy condos then why the sluggish take up rate for condos also.Seriously think HDB should do away with the levy.Comments..
  4. To be honest, think I rather face someone without a smile than one that does.I've been to many countries and I find that the culture there has make it hard for one to know whether the other person is really sincere.
  5. Bro Jewel, got any pic of your 3ft MH set.Me looking for my 3ft tank.
  6. Sorry bro.No offence intended.Juz like the feel of sand thats all.
  7. I agree that the parasite is always in the tank but not in large numbers.Thats why we need to quarantine new LS.As for his case, the whole tank may be infested liao.
  8. Think I saw a reefer's tank got one in a mixed reef tank.Don't know he got top-up fishes or not.
  9. Bro, once your tank infested with white spot(ick) you have to treat the whole tank with medication liao.Gd luck.
  10. My clownfish eats anything.Frozen brine and mysis, sea veggies flakes, tetra pellets.
  11. In this hobby, there are a lot of challenges. Not only do we need to know about marine life but also the life we have at home.Make peace not war.
  12. Tried BB a few months back.Problems encountered were a lot of uneaten food and fish waste accumulate under the rocks.Didn't use siphon coz afraid might suck fish or inverts up also). Also cannot buy fish or invert that need substrate to live(usually more interesting to watch). IMO, is ok system but looks unnatural.
  13. If you want to give pellets, try Tetra marine dorsels or Ocean nutrition Formula 2.
  14. Clownfishes are quite hardy so I think acclimatization is not the problem.IMO the fishes have been stressed during the transportation from the LFS to your home.As the weather nowadays is so hot, try to get the LS back home as soon as possible.
  15. Bro, leave your lightings on as per normal. This is a stage your tank got to go through.Turning off your lights will only temporarily fix your problem. Will come back once you on your lighting again. The problem will naturally go away as your tank matures. In the meantime, try directing some flow to your sandbed( don't create sandstorm) or get a sea cuke or some sand-sifting inverts.
  16. Thks bro My wish is for for more people to be able to enjoy this hobby at an affordable price and also save the countless sea life. Cheers!
  17. Think for sps it will be better to have fewer and smaller fish coz your tank is small. IMO, 5 anthias is too many.
  18. Sorry to hear about your fishes.Btw, what's your tank size and how long you have it running before you add in fish? If your tank is new, then probably it is still cycling.
  19. Bro, before you dose anything please read up about the subject.Don't shit and then find toilet paper.
  20. What I am actually trying to say is that there are hundreds of companies out there that basically jump on the bandwagon producing similar equpiment with hypothetical 'research' and passing off their so called 'justified' costs to the uninformed reefer.Of course there are a few that are right in their pricing which is proven in most of the skilled reefers like yourself.Bottomline is up to individual whteher he/she is willing to spend the money for such equipment. As for 'copied' equipment, juz like copied vcd.If one can get a lower price that can perform as well as the original without paying premium, why not.Plain economics. I sincerely like this thread that you started. In this way,not only we can learn about more about how reefing come about but also enlighten us the ways that ease up the pain in the pocket.
  21. I beg to differ.Although there many reefing equipment out there(some costing a bomb), not all are as good as the 'cheapo' counterparts.Sad to say some reefers are making these companies very rich and some promote these items so that they get a cut from the sale. Although reefing has come a long way from those UGF or tricke filter sytems but going back in experimenting to find what our forefathers may have missed out and improve it with the new technology we have now is IMO nothing wrong with that. Of coz I don't expect to buy nasi lemak at 10cents nowadays.
  22. Whenever new LR (even cured ones) is added, the bioload is increased and certain amount of die-offs may occur and resulting in some ammonia spike. Will take some time for your tank filter system and skimmer(must have to remove those toxic DOCs from your new LR) to bring the sytem back into equilibrium.Thats why it is very risky introducing LR when you have LS in the tank.
  23. Bro Felix, first of all changing 30% water is quite a lot for a 2ft tank. Water parameters can go both extreme and this cause your LS to be stressed. Suggest you test your salt mix before you introduce into your tank. Secondly, test kits are known to have faulty sometimes even those brands that majority of reefers here use.In this hobby you definitely can't skimp on test kits.Try another reputed one to confirm. Lastly salt mixes are also known to have low Ca.IMO, Ca doesn't deplete so rapidly as in your case with the LS you have unless you add buffers that precipitate the calcium out of the water column.Mg levels does affect the amount of Ca the water can hold.If is low then each time you dose calcium it will precipitate.Hope this helps.
