  1. I experimented -grew some chaeto's, red bamboo, green grapes, red grapes in refugium with 2 LED T4's from Dama.(before was using T5's 2 feet before) and also same in small tank near window with natural sunlight . Natural Sun is the best.Green grapes grew just as well with "daylight" 3 feet LED T4's
  2. perhaps you can explain why you want to change the sand bed? I would suggest leaving it as it is, but get cleaning crews ; turbo snails, sea cucumbers sand shifting starfish, golden head gobies, red and blue legged hermit crabs, and let them " sieve the sand" if yours isn't that bad.and maybe you are experiencing diatom bloom. Also focusing your pump heads to the sand may help as well just enough no to rake the sand too much
  3. DO NOT STIR YOUR SAND BED! get a few sand shifters starfish, golden head gobies, black sea cucumbers , incorporate a refugium growing macro algaes such as Chaetomorpha., ( depending on your tank size... otherwise buy 2 each to start off with- I get mine from Ah Beng) you can get chaetos to seed your refugium , I harvest weekly so would be able to spare some ) furthermore : Turbo snails more for the glass walls...short hair sea urchins will munch on the rocks.
  4. i place mine in "valley" cross currents " not direct current. Mid level of my 2./ half feet tank. Open up nicely.Target feed with mysis/brine concoction
  5. just dont dump packet into reactor....as will slow down flow/circulation inside reactor...add when depleting
  6. try sea hare.....ah beng has them...i got 3 in my tank (looks like shrek!
  7. Got it! from Junkai...many thanks- now to concentrate on those sea horses......
  8. http://www.brineshrimpdirect.com/Rotifer-Sieve-p220.html this one?
  9. can pm me the price (picture would be great) - thanks
  10. i think if you got new seed, best if plant separately in a container,...half sea/half rain water -brackish water... put out in the sun, ( not too visible as dengue.alert!...NEA may think you breeding mozzies..!) let the seedling grow roots/ leaves...and then introduce to your refugium. Mangroves need lots of sunlight. Dose magnesium as they take that from your system.
  11. Hi, anyone know where to obtain 53-80 microns filter ?
  12. dont use to be successful with Achilles tang, I do find Hippo , yellow, purple's easier. Recently got a very good specimen achilles tang -he didnt take food for a day- then reefer advised red bamboo ,that really did help! now I supplement with Nori seaweed clipped to glass cleaning magnet and green grapes from my refugium. )'ve got a Acanthurus sohal, a yellow tang and a blue tang in there together
  13. why you just buy from DAMA......no need to configure,,as come in a set...just hook up
  14. very nice! please do share some tips and advice...I have just started to keep/trying to breed them.(starting with culture of live food and such
  15. I lost a wrasse, 5 Scissortail dartfish, think when lghts go out they were chased and jumped out of tank ...resorted to using egg crates to cover -sectioned into 3 peices....for my seven footer...but i enlarge the holes to allow more lights in
