  1. Think 1-4 are being removed. MarineLife ( Henry ) 1) Seahorse & seahorse2 ( will pass u the additional $12 ) 2) hoppinghippos 3) Benz 4) Shieldk 5) Ikan Buntal 6) Marino 7) Crab (pass henry the additional $6?)
  2. Money is secondary. Safety of yourself & family is the top priority. Don't learn thru disaster, your life will be different from then. I'm speaking from real experience in other hobby. Suggest you drain your tank immediately.
  3. I find Sera DKH quite reliable, but not as precise as compared to Salifert. It's a fraction of Salifert's price. For PO4 & Nitrate, Sera is totally useless. I'm using Salifert. Calcium - Seachem not bad, but again not as precise. Ammonia & nitrite - I've tried Tetra and it works fine.
  4. Maybe you like to read this, quite informative from real experience. I've built mine, still cycling. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.p...or&pagenumber=2
  5. I think your concern is more on maintaining low bioload. i.e. nitrate & phosphate in particular. I've no worry over these, they're almost 0, tested regularly with Salifert test kit. Think DSB, Kalk drip & Weipro PS are doing very good job. My concern is the depletion in sea water trace elements that could do harm to corals. What supplements are essential? Just read from reefcentral. Someone mentioned there're many toxic that cannot be identified. Corals do produce toxic which maybe lethal to lifestock. Water changes help to dillute these toxic. Seems like changing water is not an option.
  6. I'm lazy of changing water , what additives is needed to replenish the trace elements? Besides these: Kalk (to maintain Calcium & dkh) Calcium & dkh buffer (in case kalk couldn't raise it) phytoplanton (for feeding) Iodine? Strontium? Trace elements? what else?
  7. Sorry to hijack. Has anyone seen Blue linkia recently? Been looking around for few weeks but can't find any.

  9. I used to keep a fighting fish in it, in nature they feed on larvae.
  10. Yes, I read that too. Problem is a suitable transparent one is already so difficult to find, opaque will be worst. This can be overcome by wrapping the coil with any opaque material, even with newspaper
  11. Think transparent hose is ok, don't think they'll break so easily. Silicon 5mm (internal diameter) not easy to find, and not cheap for 100 ft. Yes, prefilter is a must. Don't think its a good idea to flush, you'll have to recycle the matured denitrator.
  12. almost the same price but exclude shipping http://aquariumpros.com/Merchant2/merchant...t_Code=IWA70RLT
  13. I was thinking of building one using 5mm (internal diameter) clear pvc tube. Ordinary air tubing may clog after a while. Will not coil them in cylinder, but will connect its output to the cylinder fill with bio-balls. Think it will work. Have read this many times, long thread, but from real experience. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.p...or&pagenumber=1

  15. My personal encounters: Bannerfish - Tried more than 5 times, finally succeeded. Easy to feed (eats anything), but sensitive to water condition. Once stop eating, it 'geow' the next 1 or 2 day. The last one bought from China town, think their fish has the highest survivor rate. What do you think? Copperband - Its difficult to start eating. Success on second attempt, feeling lucky. Do not eat pellet/flake food. Only take frozen brine shrimps & mysis. Falcula - Starts eating readily. Sensitive to water condition. Mine died after 3 weeks. Will try again. Longnose - Tried 3 times, never success. All 'geow' less than 1 week. Very sensitive and picky on food.
  16. Online conversion for everything! http://www.onlineconversion.com/
  17. Just came across this site. Reminds me of my childhood days. My favourite is PacMan (Flash games) Still remember hitting the final level (9 keys). Where the arcade owner waited for more than 1/2 before he could close his shop. http://www.lostjungle.com/
  18. Probably the probe (i.e. glass tip) has come to an end of its useful live.
  19. Is 200 watts = 1/6 hp ? Its about 1/4 hp from this conversion (1hp = 745 watts) http://www.onlineconversion.com/power.htm Have been wondering for sometime. Anyone cares to explain why?
  20. This tank is around 254 ltr (if fill up to the rim) A common marine tank of 4x2x2ft is 454 ltr Difference is 200 ltr or 78% more in volume Furthermore, you'll need more than 2/3 FL lights. This will increase temp further. Don't think the chiller still cools
  21. S$65 without ph7 buffer. $5 for the buffer, but in bigger container The instruction says have to apply certain solution on probe for storage, did you do that? Probablly this will prolong its life span. Pour some buffer solution in the cap will also do.
  22. I've bought it from Petmart. Didn't see any ph7 buffer solution inside. Something strange:- 1) After keeping it for 2 weeks, reading shows 7.8, need to recalibrate. 2) When I dip it in tap water immediately after a test on saltwater, it gives higher reading. Dip it in ph7 buffer, read 7.0, back to tap water, it gives correct reading. Is all these normal?
  23. Your tank will be floated with insect
