  1. Don't need to be rich for lasik lah.... JB has an established lasik clinic that do both eyes for around $3600 - IN RINGIT!!! Could not believe when I first heard it. Two of people I know have gone for it and they are happy with the process. Am thinking to go for it as well.... But first appointment to test if your eyes are suitable has a wait list of a couple of months if its on a weekend. Web link is below. **** I am not linked to them in anyway**** (to avoid any misunderstanding...) http://www.optimax.com.my/about_optimax_mission.htm By the way... I now use daily disposable lens when snorkelling as well.
  2. If u are using a sump plus skimmer, the alternative is to use a piece of coarse filter as shown in the pic. The bubbles were being drawn into my last chamber and all got sucked back into the main tank. With the filter wool as shown, they are all blocked off.
  3. Honestly I started with a goldfish tank for Feng Shui (FS) reasons and that's how I finally come to have a marine tank. But back to FS... my own personal experience is that it will never end once u start this. First my tank, than u shift it around as different sources tell u it should be somewhere else..... then came the plants around sharp corners, no TV in the bedroom, no mirrors facing the bed etc etc..... I found myself sucked into it. Then came the wealth attracting cat in my office table, sit where to absorb the wealth air... really no end... if things are not smooth, you then cracked yr head thinking where u did wrong...... its really gets u in into bondage situation... very helpless indeed. Have seen so many other got caught into this.. my brother, in-laws etc. Not sure how many "masters" have been to my in-laws house already.... not sure how much shifting they have done.. not sure how long it will last....
  4. See if u have other things to buy from him, top to nett S$50 (and 10% discount for most things), free delivery some more!!!! (this promotion still on?) Support our sponsor lah.....
  5. I experienced the same as well.... once I dive in, water starts to slowely fill my mask and have to surface ferquently.. My head is pretty big (known as Lion Head when I was young) thus probably need XL size... Yazid - thanks for the tip on trying on a mask. Will do that... Goggles - will fit better but I think viewing wise is restricted and not as clear as a mask.
  6. Hi all Planning a snorkelling trip to Bintan in April (3D, 2N) with my family. Rental there is about S$15 per few hours per day so I thought I might as well buy a used mask and "air-tube". Worth it? Saw some "branded" sets at Taka Orchard around S$50-60. OK buy? Very new to this so don't know the "market"...
  7. I had connected an air pump directly to the air in take tube as well before as well. The skimmate is a lot more but I did not get kopi-o type though. The collection looks more diluted. Still prefer the orginal, where the bubble form in the collection cup does not burst for hours.
  8. To avoid people flying aeroplane, I usually adopt "first come first serve approach" instead of reserving it for anyone. So far this works fine for me. If you tell the person that its reserved for them and they may get the idea that they could take their time. I agree with the point that kanna aeroplane is frustrating but don't think rating them will help as pointed out by others earlier.
  9. Arghh.. I am having my pork rib and roast chicken rice right now...
  10. Blackberry can also be a curse.... because its "live", the expectation is there for you to reply immediately. I am "torturing" some of my associates in the US this way. I come in fresh from 9 am and send them updates that need their immediate attention and get their replies though its close to midnight over there...
  11. Check out Xphone by O2 - www.myxphone.com. All you will ever need! MP3, VGA Camera + movie clips, MS SmartPhone OS, Outlook etc. Can be cranky at times (Microsoft....so what's new) but overall great product so far as my wife is using it. S$756 nett so price is ok but you will need to charge very oftens as the phone "bottoms up" on battery power. I am using Treo 600, less attrative in terms of design and features (low resolution screen) but much appreciate the battery strengh and stable Palm OS. Pricey though at S$1288 retail. For info, clam phones generally have much shorter life spans due to the design (the hinge design causes the most problems) and is one of the reasons why Nokia has been "slow" in introducing them. The new clam-shell model is more a "no choice but to follow the crowd" strategy to win back those who "defected" to Panasonic, Samsung and LG.
  12. Don't think its a concern. But I do take particular attention to the wiring in my DIY MH set up. Need to use heat insulating wires in there to be sure. It sure gets real hot inside the box!
  13. 3M has a heat-protecting tape sold in some DIY shops but quite expensive = more than S$30 per small roll. One shop I know is Tuas Hardware along Sembawang Road. Its one of those two storey shop house next to Sembawang Shopping Centre.
  14. side track......Arghh... got a 3 weeks ICT coming up in May/June including a free one week stay in Tekong, full board..... not sure how my tank is going to be "managed" - kalk dosing, DT and GP daily feeding etc...
  15. Been using this + DT live plankton and its great. Only complain is that it usually creates a film of the GP on the water surface. I have tried the following and its solves this issue: Buy those small plastic bottle that has a very long sprout that is usually used to keep soya sauce. Trim off the sprout such that only a very small opening is created. Load the bottle with GP and purified water and SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE all you can. Store in the fridge always! Each time you want to use it, SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE again! I usually insert the sprout into the tank water and just sqeeze (can even target feed your corals!). As the GP is soaked thoroughly already, very little actually floats onto the surface. I have kept the same bottle of solution for months and they do keep very well when kept in the fridge all the time!

  17. Cleared from my sump for more space to re-position my skimmer. SMS me at 98154477. Will pack into plastic bags for collection at 357C, Admiralty Drive. Around 20 kg total.
  18. Serious buyer please sms 98154477 me your best offer. Bought at S$38 but not expecting this price. Collect at Sembawang MRT station. Thanks.
  19. I am using a KG of it in my 250litre tank. I guess as with most other marine supplements and media etc, if it does not create havoc in our tank... means its "working"....
  20. Anyone know exactly where to get the titianium rod? Checked with a few bike shops in North sector but can't find it. Thanks. On the other hand... I did recall Tanzy had a write-up on possible negative effects of using it... something to do with the chemical inbalance or something....
  21. He is right in saying the crabs will not disturb them. Actually will give them rest instead... eternal rest....
  22. Not a guru posting here but the thing is ineffective...... have used more then one bottle once at one go but did not help. Garlic is still the choice.. Kent Marine Garlic Extreme... largy better!
  23. Sorry, borrow your thread.... my sunburst anthias also not eating..........
  24. My middle sump compartment is filled with coral chips (at least 20kg) since my tank setup more than 1 year ago. Never had any problems with NO2 and NO3 (DSP in main tank). Is it safe to remove the coral chips in stages from my sump? My tank sandbed and LR should be able to slowly adjust to teh new demands of treating Ammo, N02 right? Much appreciate any helpful advise.... or should I adhere to the wise saying - if it ain't broken, don't fix it.....
  25. Good idea to feed them and get them going before letting them into the main tank.... Oh yes, the uncle I bought from also reminded to climatise the fish before putting him into the main tank... I'm impressed......
