Aiyo... die liao.. My tank water parameters below: NO2 : 0.1 mg/l (ppm) NO3 : 10 mg/l (ppm) Didn't invest in KH test kit. Is it necessary?

Does anyone know what are the ideal values for water parameters, e.g. NO2, NO3, KH, PH, etc....? Or any website that mentions these values? I know there are some previous discussion in this forum, just couldn't find it...

Sorry to have hijack this message. Last saturday, I bought a small piece of sun coral from one of the farms in Pasir Ris. Also, bought zooplankton & phytoplankton (those mixed with water type). The strange thing is it doesn't open when my T5 lights are switch on. But whenever, the lights are off, it opens. As for feeding, I uses a syringe (with zooplankton & phytoplankton mixed with saltwater) and pump slightly above each tube of the sun corals. But still doesn't open. I tried to shift the location of the sun coral from middle of the tank to resting on sand. Still doesn't want to open. Anything else I should take note of??

Oh, I placed mine at a 45deg tilted angle blowing at the water surface. Everyday got to top up 1L of water How often do you switch on your skimmer and lighting?

Hi Chris, Interesting to see how successful is your tank setup as I have just started mine few weeks back. However, mine is a 2ft IOS tank, thus do not have sump as you have. My weipro skimmer has to be hanged outside at the edge of the glass. Quite unsightly, but what to do? I have yet purchased any coral, but seeing your healthy corals boost my confidence as well. Will look around to see if I can get one or two this weekend. I have a cooling fan like what you have, question is what direction of the blowing do you place your fan? With air blowing directly at the water surface or blowing away from the water surface?

Hi, I just bought 4x24W T5 lighting system (2xtube white, 2xtube blue) from Darwin Aquarium (Bedok Blk 85) for S$124. If all white tubes, it will be cheaper at S$112. I have following questions: 1) How will I know if they are HO or NO? 2) How many hours per day should I turn my T5 lights on? 3) What are white tubes for & blue tubes for? 4) Do I switch on four of the them or just 50/50? Like during the day, white lights, during the night, blue light? Rgds/
