  1. Yup you guys are right there is indeed a new marine fish shop (not fresh water convert) Shop name is JI*eh Marine Aquarium and they are at the first floor. They are facing outside the building. Spoke to the lady boss there, seems like they really serious about the business, looking at the amount of $ they invested into the tanks, pipes, protein skimmers....etc Their male boss is a nice guy who said he has been keeping marine fish and diving for 20 years....saw some books on marine fish lying around the cashier. Hmm...seems like he knows his stuff. He also told me that he does custom tank set-ups. Anyway, those people who are interested can pop by, nice friendly people to talk to : )

  6. overflowing in the cup has never been a problem for me at any stage... just simply adjust the valve to get the height you want the 3000 pump can be used outside the tank...unless Henry from ML bluff me which I don't think so...
  7. hi there, i have the same set up as you...2011 skimmer with 3000 pump i do not cover the air hole my pump is placed outside the tank(inside tank, temp rises by 1 degree and is noisy) i do not have any problems with skimmin good skimmate. the skimmer shouls take about 2 weeks to kick in properly.
  8. ladies and gentlemen i think some of u went off topic aahhaha nevermind my tank looks stable so far thanks
  9. Hi ...thanks for the replies... I checked...my bags holding filter media are tightly secured... Only things, I have dosed are calcium and strontium... The black and yellow particles sink to the sand bed, I have sucked most of them off, but I believe that they are still some in between the rocks... Fish and corals look pretty alright today...normal...
  10. hi there, glad to see another reefer getting nori actually if you had followed a nori thread here... you would know what to do... anyway from my experience: i feed brine shrimp, so my fish are used to them to introduce nori into their diet, you have to do it slowly... put your nori into warm water, they will expand, dun throw straight into tank...takes too long in cold water to expand... mix nori ( alittle bit for day 1), with brine....nori will absorb the taste... some experts use garlic juice or what...u can try... then you throw the shrimp with nori...they shoudl mix pretty well.. you will notice your fish will eat the nori! why? cos it tastes like shrimp!?! hahhah try that...
  11. yo fren... dun worry... i'm not exactly an expert, but i have fish that HAD white spots before 3 things to do for you 1) remove the white spot fella -try dipping into purifed fresh water for a while( i did it to my maroon clown before, it worked, white spots disappeared) 2)don't add any other fishes for the moment, just in case spread 3)best solution, if you have quarantine tank, get some medications and treat the fella...when he is ok then put him back, of cos dun get copper based ones, and dun add to main tank experts out there can to help him?
  12. hi terryz... typo...nitrite is 0...thanks and i dun think its salt man.... thanks anyway ah... anyone else can help?
  13. Hi all reefers! Something weird just happened in my tank like 2 hours ago, I saw quite a few small, black and some yellow crystals just appearing in my tank! Ratio of black to yellow in terms of quantity is 9 : 1 Corals and fish seem normal... But the black and yellow crystals are an eyesore and I was worried that overnight, disaster might happen? Any one can tell me what that is? Thanks guys! Oh, some of my tank details My tank specs: 1XFL zoomed 10k 12 hour lighting per day 1XFL zoomed actinic same hang over filter(quite big), denitrate by seachem, chemipure 2 feet tank...those round front edges type 4 inch DSB tank cycled for a month...now is 2 months+old liverock 10+kg some mushies, leathers, star polyps, tube worms... fish inside: puffer from brackish waters, yellow with black spots purple dottyback orange shrimp goby scorpion blenny 3 clowns 1 cleaner shrimp 1 blood shrimp 2 camel shrimp 2 snails 2 bubble tip anemones i think thats abt it temp ard average of 26 degrees SG 1.022-23 ammonia 0 nitrite 0.5 nitrate below 10 Ca 400ppm
