Found this useful website that breaks down the types of fish in different classes: A - Fish that should never be kept in captivity, period. B - Fish that may be kept successfully, but ONLY in public aquaria that can supply their specialized needs. C - Fish that are often kept successfully in larger reef aquaria, but usually do not survive in fish-only aquariums. This is commonly due to specialized diet requirements that reef aquaria provide, in the way of naturally occurring micro-crustacean populations, but in some cases, may simply be due to the more complete natural ecosystem found in reef tanks. D - Fish that are now bred and raised in captivity. Tank-raised specimens of these species will do well in aquariums, whereas wild-caught may not. E - Fish that are almost always caught with Cyanide or drugs, and whose purchase supports this horrible practice. F - While not impossible to keep in a home aquarium, requires either a specialized diet and/or habitat that make it impossible to keep with the majority of other species. Many should be kept in a dedicated tank. This classification is also used with very aggressive fish, or those that can eat larger fish, requiring special consideration when choosing tank mates. G - Venomous. Exercise extreme caution when catching, or when cleaning the aquarium, and do not keep if you have small children. H - Fish that should not be sold or purchased because they are rare. We felt the need to emphasize this one. Imagine public reaction to our hobby if it were discovered and published that the aquarium trade was responsible for the extinction of a species. Haha....sorrie about the misleading name...true enuff, there's no such name for the fish i saw...my check my ears liao ! haha... OK, the fish's color is blue (lighter than a damsel), and has a longish body like a goby, but fades to light grey when it's provoked, like the yellow-tail damsel. However, this one has more glow with a slight shade of black on it's fins....it's only $3 lah... So, i guess it's some kinda of damsel species... Tried to look for it but couldn't find it in google... Have a nice weekend :-) -

Went to R*b*rn last nite: - damsels - small Hawaii yellow tangs - blue star panther - large regal tangs (abt. 5 inches), or is it a ###### naso? hmm... - one large blue hippo tang (abt 4 inches) - one large powder blue tang (abt. 5 inches) - fire clowns (belly nice...) - regal angelfish of various sizes - etc -
IMHO, tangs generally like Green Marine Algae (Natual Dried Seaweed, Macroalgae). Can buy from Petmart for less than S$10... Goes well with 'Feeding Frenzy clip'...

Do some research in this form on marine fish compatibility and experiences from fellow members....use the search function and you may discover vital information that will prevent 'heart-pain' and S11 down the drain... Here's a pretty good guide to refer to : (remember, it's a guide, not the holy grail...) http://www.thepetstop.com/fish_shop/chart.html Have fun !

success in keeping Anemone? anyone?
Strongbad replied to heman's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Better avoid as it requires feeding of prawns, may sting your precious fish and moves around and hence making feeding quite a challenge.... Also heard about the infamous chemical warfare... http://www.wetwebmedia.com/marine/inverts/...placemtfaqs.htm -

Powder Blue Tang with Hippo Tang (aka Blue Tang)
Strongbad replied to WLSS's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
If they are put in at the same time, it's likely they will live in peace because they have not establish their territory yet... If you have an established hippo, the PBT is likely to be killed... -
Fish died with mouth wide open
Strongbad replied to kenzo's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
hmmm....not sure what happened. It was swimming to and fro, eating happily, until one fine day, it hide behind the live rocks...and then it died. The other fishes are doing fine. Strange... Perhaps it's poisoned? I have a small carpet anemone.. -
