This evening spotted my maroon clown fanning and protecting some eggs lookalike things on the tank wall. Bro/sis with keen eyes, maybe you can help me identify if these are clownfish eggs. Sorry, it's rather far as my iphone cannot zoom in for video.

My urchin seems to be spawning. Been releasing this white substance into the water for several min. Too bad no urchin partner here...seems that inhabitants of the tank are in the mood for procreation...

  • 2 weeks later...

what are you using to light your chaetos?

I'm using two lights. One is a small aquarium light that can plug in normal energy saving light bulb we use at home. Another one is a small Dymax LED light. Both on 24 hours a day. I'll let you know the exact brands and model when I'm back in office on Monday.

But to be honest, my chaeto are not growing that well. It doesn't die off but not getting bigger either.

When I first got my GSP, the skirting (if that's what it's called) is quite long.

post-14837-0-44260700-1339257752_thumb.j

But now though the colony has spread, each polyp's skirting seems to become shorter (pic below). Bro/sis can advise why is it so?

Hehe long skirting looks nicer. So if it's due to lighting or something, I'll try adjust it. ;)

maybe it's the same principle as most fat people are not tall and most tall people are not fat? given finite resources, it's not easy to grow fast vertically and horizontally. may also be partly due to optical illusion

lol scientific explanation to my question? Then I hope it can balance out the growth, both vertically and horizontally. :)

No idea leh. I have one frag at the top of my rock structure. One frag on the sandbed. Both have short skirting.

  • 1 month later...

Have not been updating. Maybe I'll show a pic of my latest addition: mini anemones. Got two of them and below is one. Will try to get other photos out from the camera. Meanwhile, just one photo to show for now.

post-14837-0-72720400-1342711625_thumb.j

As for my zoa, most of them have started their usual pattern of slow shrinking. Almost all the new zoas I have got recently started to shrink, closing up and colony reducing in size...all except those bought from Cedric. So basically, the sunflower, pink panther and blue hornet that I got from him have at least doubled in the number of polyps. The rest...I don't know how to save them...
