slapper
Very nice set-up. Thanks but not as nice as what you have in your tank. Still trying to improve on water quality. Quote My Tank Journey
slapper
Have been inactive in my thread for a while. Here are some new updates. Over the past weeks, I did some rescaping to the tank, lost some livestocks due to ich (white spots), and those that survived the ordeal came out stronger. I'm still maintaining a 2ft nano tank, without sump and cooler, as my intention is to keep things simple. Sure, more maintenance work is required, such as frequent water top-ups, twice weekly water change (30%) and more selective with livestocks that are intolerant of water temperature higher than 28C. Certain days, like during the warm season we are having now, daytime temperature may reach up to 29C. But with proper care, a well-stocked 2ft nano tank is possible. Btw how u cure ich, my regal tang got ich, 1 false clown aready die from ich. but my foxface and the other clowns doing well.. Yes, it does look big in photos. Ich is present in everyone's tank. The Tangs are most susceptible. I did not managed to cure them. For the rest of the fish, esp the gobies, they are hardy and did not catch the parasite. There are several medication in the market. Read and look around. I would not say which is best, cos everyone has their own preferences. One brand may work well in another's tank but not yours as everyone's tank is different. MOre imptly, frequent water change, non-overfeeding will help prevent ich. Quote My Tank Journey
SRC Member John Deroe Kenedy Posted June 11, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted June 11, 2012 I read somewhere that we can do freshwater dip, so i eventually did it.. My Tang now swimming peacefully and eating. It use to just hide at one corner. I need to get a doc wrasse and a skunk shrimp to clean out the mess in my tank. I believe that that are some hiding spots in my tank that causes ich. slapper
Yes, i did try freshwater dip but it's a long drawn process. Besides, with my tank full of corals, it is tough netting them. I'm using It's Clear now to clean the water of parasites. Quote My Tank Journey

My water here is hovering around 31-32 If im not wrong bro slapper is using 2x Dymax Vortex Fan.. It depends on ur location, water volume, heat from equipments too.. I used to use ANS 3000 Cooling Fan manage to get 29deg est. I add dymax vortex and im able to get 28.4deg est. but evaporation will happen rapidly. slapper
tats very high. draw the curtains. do not let any sunlight through. don't place the tank near your window. SRC Member MadScientist Posted June 12, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted June 12, 2012 ya, i am now running eheim 1250 out of water, so heat going to water should be less. I am placing it on study desk, dead in the middle of the room, and my room receives literally no sunlight (am very sure as none of my potted plant survives). today at 7am already 31, maybe I live in the dead center of the equator, haha

Now on 1 dymax w-8, I can only achieve min 27.8deg, but it can go as high as 29.9deg. I'm losing more than 1.5L of water a day.

You should use 2 fans. Today my temp went up to 28.5 during the day. Morning is normally 27.x. Evening when i turn on the aircon, i switch the fan off. I'm ok with evaporation as long as temp can be maintained at a reasonable value during the day. Quote My Tank Journey
