I like Seachem Prime and have been using it for years. May sound expensive but that stuff is very concentrated. 1mL to 10 gallon of tapwater. Can also be used to oxidise nitrite to nitrates in an emergency.

till today I still don't know how much to add for my seachem prime.

I normally add one cap full to a normal sized pail of water.

I have a feeling I am wasting my anti-chlorine.

yes I have but I haven't tried measuring the capacity of a pail.

1 large pail should be about 5 gallon, if not less. So just add 1/10 of a cap of PRIME.
