BTW, don't go to extend of creating an Excel spreadsheet .... joke lah !! :P

If Silverfish has not placed order, then perhaps AlanSeah can help. :thanks:

Hi Nautical,

I have ordered DVDs from amazon a couple of times but not books. Here is the cost

Standard International Shipping

10 to 16 business days

Per Shipment Per Item

Books* $6.99 $4.99

So example 3 books will be

Cost of Book + 6.99 + 3*4.99

:peace:

well not US $$$ has drop to 1.68 better..:D

shipment price quite cheap.. around 11++ so round off US$12 only..

unless u go for speed shipment else get the normal slow shipment..

so for

Dr. Burgess's Mini Atlas for marine fish. Its US$25 compare to kino $80

US$25 = 1.68 * (25 + 12) = S$62.16

Dr Burgess's Atlas of Marine Aquarium Fishes is $US56 compare to kino $150

US56 = 1.68 * (56 + 12) = S$114.24

u see it's alot cheaper..

 I have both the books and they are very useful indeed. Well, if only the fish ID plates had a little more colour. Other texts like Australian Fishes of the Great Barrier Reef, Reef Fishes of the World and books by Roger Steene are also useful to ID fishes. Even for a trained taxonomist, ID can be difficult but not for some hidden dragons in the forum...ask Rumor

I would like to recommend a little book by Scott W Michael- Essential Pocket Guide to more than 500 species of marine fish...so far, the species description has the best match to real life experiences.

1) Ultimate Marine Aquariums: Saltwater Dream Systems and How They Are Created by Michael S. Paletta.

Bought the book using the free shipping perks and thought of selling it but after reading...changed my mind... :P

Described about techniques, successes and failures of some renowned aquarists and systems... :yeah::yeah:

2) Marine Fishes: 500+ Essential-To-Know Aquarium Species by Scott W. Michael

This provides a handy guide to the compatibility of the species but just simple write up. Good as a companion for fish-shopping... :)

what about books on shrimps and ricordeas?

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?

"Its easier to blame the 'mantis' or crabs in the tank for missing & dead livestocks.."

SilverFish

I would recommand The Modern Coral Reef Aquarium by Svein Fossa and Alf Jacob Nilsen, this title comes in 3 volumes, "An Excellent Book, A Must For Any SALTWATER HOBBYIST" Reviewed by Nick A.Nagy from New York, U.S.

Each book costs about US66, cna order from Amazon.com, I have learnt a lot from all these books on the reef keeping both in fishes and corals.

Hope this info helps you.

Cheers! :D
