SRC Member Sherilyn91 Posted December 14, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted December 14, 2014 Anyone know if it is normal? I jus started cycling and I saw these on the glass.. It's like a thin transparent plastic sheet and will drop off and float in water.. Is it normal? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

SRC Member Shadow Walker Posted December 15, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted December 15, 2014 lol bro Andtsg, tats quite a wild guess. I think maybe got to do with the sand. You can try to slowly skim manually those sheets away from the surface but does it keep on reproducing? Does it look it oil substance? SRC Member DottyClown Posted December 15, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted December 15, 2014 Just a wild guess. Maybe it is remains of the Silicone Glue used to fix the tank. Maybe the tank maker had a spillover and some glue dried up on the glass before he cleaned it up. Thus now seeing such "skin" peeling off. SRC Member Sherilyn91 Posted December 15, 2014 Author SRC Member Share Posted December 15, 2014 The tank is a second tank.. Plus I run fresh water for 4 days to test but no such situation.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
SRC Member Sherilyn91 Posted December 17, 2014 Author SRC Member Share Posted December 17, 2014 I change water daily for 4 days.. Now much lesser alrdy.. But the water doesn't seems clear.. Any idea why? Can add anything to make it clear? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
tofubox
I would say it a bacteria problem u are facing. It should clear up, if u are carbon (sugar, vinegar etc) or bacteria dosing (i.e mb7) just hold it off for now. Quote I Love Stagsss
SRC Member Sherilyn91 Posted December 17, 2014 Author SRC Member Share Posted December 17, 2014 I haven dose ath yet.. Ok sure.. Hope so.. Bro when will the diatom start ah? I nv on light yet.. Shld I do so?
tofubox
I like to cycle with my tank lights on, helps to encourage nuisance algae growth, so i can deal with it there and than, and not wait until u have corals. U can than treat these algae with chemicals or like raising magnesium and such. Your first set of clean up crew will also help to deal with this problem at the early stages. I have no idea if lights will actually speed up the cycling of tanks. Its personal preference, theres no hard and fast rule. both works fine. Diatoms will appear around day 8 - 10 of the cycle depending on ur system. It usually indicates the end of the nitrogen cycle. So it all depends on how much crap there is. I would recommand running some activated carbon when ur reaching the end of the cycle. Quote I Love Stagsss
