Help... what is it on my sand and rock

Hi all,

Could anyone of you tell me what is it on my sand and rock. Is it an alge? It always come back after i have cleared out the sand. my nitrate is quite high 50mg/l.. water change every 2weeks. Please enlighten me. thanks

it looks a bit like hair algae....i heard that it feeds on phosphate, so try to get phosguard, might help

I is defintely Cyano. How old is the tank? Tell us more about your setup, and husbandry.

1 feet tank with 1 hangon filter, 1 skimmer and 1 power head. i have 4 clown, 1 'green grass' and 1 sabe anemone. my NO3 is around 50mg/l, is it the cause?

bru your phosphate in the tank is on the high side u can try Polyfilter on top of your water change

bro , your circulation might be poor... Blast your LR's with a powerhead and then do a major water change. You might want to get Rowaphos too and reduce feeding time....thats cyno and if you leave it that way it's gonna get worse....

yeah.. better start do something before it blooms.. by then it would be very hard to control. Then we will see another giving up hobby sale..

me got the same prob ..... bought a red slime remover from henry ML .... get rid within 2 days but mine is not that bad yet .... maybe u can try it ...btw the red slime remover cost $28 ....

If it's a small patch, try scoping out that portion of sand and soak it in boiling water. Improve your skimming and do regular water change to reduce phosphate and nitrate.

siphon out the cyano and do a water change today. added phophate guard today. hope that it will never come back. beside water change, any other method to reduce nitrate?
