I do weekly water change of 10%.. Jus introduced a small refugium.. Fist size of caulipera. Reduced my feeding to once a day.. Still having issues with red slime algae.. My elegance is starting to retract itself.. Is there something wrong or I'm not doing??

Admiraltian
Your po4 and no3 too high. U need to use a phosphate absorber like gfo in a reactor to bring down. For no3, there's a few methods such as bio pellet, carbon dosing, no3 reactor etc. Quote Display Tank : 36" x 20" x 20" Herbie overflow box design, Sump : 36" x 21" x 17", Frag Tank : 16” x 20” x 16”, custom built by Tank Culture. SRC Supporter Harlequinmania Posted June 7, 2015 SRC Supporter Share Posted June 7, 2015 When you do your water change do you use normal tape water or Ro/DI water? If you are using normal tape water, there will be silicate and possible nutrient present which causes the algae issues. Trying other methods.. It's pretty old school. I think nowadays seldom ppl use since there's biopellet. kkannan114
Thanks for the inputs... Plan to do 50% water change.. Followed by switching off lights for 3 days.. and then getting a phosphate remover.. Hopefully it solves the problem
tang_sohal
If its confirm red slime.. go ah beng and grab chemiclean. Blackout of 3 days doesnt really help much in my opinion. You have very serious problem with your no3 and po4. Bring it down would of you utmost importance

kkannan114
It's been almost a year since I started this hobby. Would like to share the current set up.. Most successful has been keeping RBTA, from one to eight. not so successful with zoas and elegance. Zoas nvr opened up. Elegance slowly reducing in size. Also have been battling hair algae for a while now.. just bought leather coral, opened nicely for one day then completely closed till now
