Killing Aiptasia Success

Recommended Posts

Dear All,

I would like to share my experience battling aiptasia with fellow reefers here.

It started with ONE aiptasia which spread all over the tank on the rocks and sand.

Manually I removed some of the aiptasia rocks and those attached to small sand bits.

However, it was a game changer when I introduced two red legged hermit crabs into the tank from Pacific Reef.

Within a span of 2 days, ALL aiptasia cleared from the tank.

I read about red legged hermit crabs being able to consume aiptasia but it's 50-50 chance.

Good luck!

Both blue leg & red leg hermit crabs are generally reef safe. Saw 2 Red Leg hermit crabs at Ah Beng today. Not sure about price.

how i did,

use salifert test kit 1ml syringe but attach it with the needle "injector" .

load it with hot water, insert the needle into the mouth and onto the "stem" of the aiptasia and inject it.

inject it twice and "siphon" it out right after.

always works for me.

A hungry filefish... best aptasia remedy! Its easy to catch, so you can always remove it if it turns to your precious corals.
