SRC Member CKS Posted August 20, 2018 Author SRC Member Share Posted August 20, 2018 Made something with a laser cutter to elevate the height of the LED and also to hold the mangrove in place. This also provides more flexibility for the placement of the light. Also gotten a beautiful new fan worm and Gracilaria looking macro from Iwarna over the weekend!
SRC Member CKS Posted August 23, 2018 Author SRC Member Share Posted August 23, 2018 Can't believe the positive effect the colour of the light has on the macros, I think my old cheapo LED could be the reason why the purple macro was turning yellow. Should have invested in aquarium rated light long ago

SRC Member sleexox Posted October 27, 2018 SRC Member Share Posted October 27, 2018 Hi CKS, I understand that you have a seahorse in your tank. So it's possible to keep seahorse without a chiller considering that your tank can go up to 31 degrees?. Â Mind sharing the species of your seahorse? Hi Sleexox, No more seahorses, my tank is not suitable after all. One of them 'died by wavemaker', another became too stress and developed gas bubble. Some others got harassed by the fishes. I've decided not to take the risk again, at least not with the current species in the current setup.
SRC Member CKS Posted October 28, 2018 Author SRC Member Share Posted October 28, 2018 Very lucky to find these two different kindof Gracilaria! I've tied them up together, hopefully, can figure out how to grow them this round.
SRC Member CKS Posted November 6, 2018 Author SRC Member Share Posted November 6, 2018 Here are the photos update for the month of Nov.  And so I have jumped into the dark side of coral keeping. No idea how it will work out in this warm tropical tank without a chiller. A rock of hitchhiker mushrooms that have been in my tank since the beginning seems to be doing well. So I thought why not grow a Yuma/Ricordea garden on top of the seaweed garden. The Yuma/Ricordeas were added about 2 months ago and the Pulsing Xenia was introduced recently. So far so good, except for one of the Yuma which has 'turned white'.  Gotten a beautiful new orange sponge recently, didnt have much luck with the blue, the yellow sponge which has been in the tank for over 3-months is still alive and doing well!  The Mangrove is finally able to stand on its own without any artificial support, thanks to its overgrown roots and the Blue Ochtodes.  Tiny fanworms started sprouting on the sandbeds!  The C.Prolifera is dominating the sandbed fast as well. And this Banggai cardinal has decided to make this leafy forest its shelter.  And some more photos of the inhabitants

SRC Member CKS Posted November 11, 2018 Author SRC Member Share Posted November 11, 2018 Found at least 5 mini brittle starfishes while replanting the Ochtodes macros to spread their growth. These guys are really good at multiplying! They are now in the Mini stars husbandry ready for sale

There are 2 major sponges which I've no idea the exact species and their requirements, so i'm doing a variety of things such as dosing silica, dosing carbon and feeding phytoplankton every once in a while! 31 minutes ago, jacky zou said: hi bro。where buy the fanworms can?
