SRC Member DottyClown Posted July 20, 2016 SRC Member Share Posted July 20, 2016 Is anyone using SeaChem Prime, either to start a new tank or during routine water changes? Care to share comments and reviews?

SRC Member Junwei Posted July 20, 2016 SRC Member Share Posted July 20, 2016 Isn't seachem prime just a dechlorinator? Do u mean seachem stability? Bacteria for new tanks. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
Eric Ng Yong Keong
It anti chlorine. Been using it for almost ten years. Stable n normally not a lot is required. Cost effective. But recently went to local freshwater lfs. Commented y I still using this brand. Stating some bad feedback with some recent user. I m still using it. No problem at all. Any comment on this? But its troublesome having to keep buying (& throwing) the bottles, and not very environmentally friendly. So thinking to switch to Tap Water with Seachem Prime, if it is really safe and accepted by hobbyist.
Eric Ng Yong Keong
U will have high tds reading using that method. Ideal case will be rodi unit. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
motionpunk
Its easier and less hassle to just use rodi. In the long run you'd want one anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Eric Ng Yong Keong
It's a good investment if u have coral. If fish only or small tank, might consider bottle. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
nwyk153
Use it on my Moray eel tank with soft coral and LPS. I find no issue with it and been using it for 10 years. Use it for my Freshwater monster tank w/ XB aro as well. Some of the reefer here use it on their tank with SPS also with no ill effect. 2 Quote Reefing since 2003 4ft x 2ft x 2ft Mixed Reef (BB):- 50 Gal Sump, Apex Controlled System (Lab grade), Deltec SC1455 Protein Skimmer, Vortech MP40wQD, Jebao RW-15 Maxspect Razor 320w Eheim 1260 Return Pump, Hailea HS-66A 1/4HP chiller, TLF Reactor 150, running HydroCarbon

I'm using that with tap water cos I cannot accommodate a DI unit at home , eventually kena algae problems. Have to prepare yourself for that. I'm using an algae turf scrubber to compensate. But so far livestock seems ok except torch corals keep dying. Just fyi Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk

SRC Member tuajia Posted July 21, 2016 SRC Member Share Posted July 21, 2016 Yeah should be ok, I imagine. Eventually you'll replace out all the original tap water Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
