SRC Member Nooblenny Posted October 21, 2016 Author SRC Member Share Posted October 21, 2016 Was initially planning to decom my existing 3ft planted tank and upgrade the 2ft reef tank into 80-90gal reef tank next year. But looks like I can't hold it anymore. Will turn this 3ft shallow (custom ADA 90F) planted tank into a FOWLR soon. Then next year just upgrade the 2ft tank. I'm probably not the right person to learn from as my method is not very scientific. I never test my water, i just based it on my corals condition. Anyway yes, from other's experience probiotics bacteria will reduce nutrients. You can start with Pro Bio S + NP Pro first if dont want to change salt. Since it will keep your nutrient low constantly, while the probiotic salt only work one time after water change. Although the salt has additional amino & vitamins. If use both probiotic salt & Pro Bio S, can achieve ULNS for SPS dominant system. 3 hours ago, fatphotoboy said: do you use garlic oil and fish V daily? Not really. I use fish V once every 3 days. While garlic oil only for frozen food.

Oh, just take note with probiotic salt you will get bacteria bloom & your skimmer will go overdrive if your system is heavy in nutrient after overfeeding. But not an issue just keep the aeration strong and usually water will crystal clear after a few hours.

Maybe next time I can come back to freshwater again. But for now, my interest has shifted to saltwater
SRC Member stetan Posted October 24, 2016 SRC Member Share Posted October 24, 2016 I used to have a 4ft planted as well before I venture into marine. Your ADA tank really brings back the memories for me....really make me want to start a freshwater planted tank again
SRC Member Nooblenny Posted October 24, 2016 Author SRC Member Share Posted October 24, 2016 Yeah, love those ADA tanks, especially the shallow version which was not very common in store. Anyway, I got N30 to custom made this tank. Always got inspiration from IAPLC, but mine still ended up crap lol

SRC Member Nooblenny Posted October 29, 2016 Author SRC Member Share Posted October 29, 2016 Just finished breaking the big rocks into smaller chunks for more flexible aquascaping. These are the same Caribsea South Sea Base Rocks I'm using in my 2ft reef tank.
