FuEl
Don't even think about using Iodine Tincture. It IS iodine dissolved in aqueous ethanol. Hmm..imagine drunken shrimp and drunken fish. Anyway, an alternative is Seachem's Reef iodide. I'm using it. It's concentrated potassium iodide at 8,000 mg/L. I only dose maybe 0.5ml every 2-3 weeks. Sometimes I forget and doze it once a month? Scared of overdosing. NSW levels of iodate ions & iodide ions are very low. About 0.06ppm in total. That's why after 2 years the bottle is still 80% full? Found a link that could be useful to others thinking of dosing iodide. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/mar2003/chem.htm Quote Always something more important than fish. http://reefbuilders.com/2012/03/08/sps-pico-reef/

FuEl
Check out Iwarna's SPS tank next to the Marine Pond. Maintained using Fauna Marin Balling Salts, Ultra Trace B and Ultra Easy K. If you want to dose Potassium safely, it's best to use Ultra Easy K. All you need to do is to test your potassium level with FM's Potassium test kit ONCE, find out how much potassium you need and follow the instructions on Ultra Easy K to boost it up to the desired levels. No more dangerous & troublesome estimates with other potassium products and additional testing with potassium test kits!
