10 Gallon Tank

Recommended Posts

  • SRC Member

Hi everyone,

I've set up a 10 gallon tank. Previously was a freshwater tank, but converted it to a marine. I got some grade 1-2 sand and some LR from the LFS here in Canada.

The sand and LR are from the LFS's tanks and they're already seeded.

I'm running a Whisper 100 and a Aquaclear. My eventual goal is to have an anemone and maybe another piece of coral.

What would some recommended livestock be?

1-2 clowns and a cleaner shrimp?

Thanks!

Hi szesteve,

Good to have friends from so far away visiting us. :D

I guess, you already know the answers, you can keep 1 pair of percula and a cleaner shrimp together with your anemone. But, I will have to warn you that anemone can grow far too big for your 10gal.

I have tried a 10gal previously with the above setup but with the anemone. The reason is not just size but bioload as well. As you know when an anemone start to die , your 10gal will not be able to handle it and thus causes the tank to crash (In fact, some big tank have this problem as well). Also, with anemone means that you will need higer intensity lighting. ;)

Anyway, this is just my 2 cents.

Welcome and hope to see you around. Cheers,

Ricordia Yuma or Florida seems to be the choice for beginners. You might want to try them out fisrt before venturing to stony corals.

But remember to keep us updated with pixs.

Anemone will be too big for a 10 gallon tank... Unless you can find those small ones... For anemone, you will need high light intensity... Maybe you can keep some low light intensity corals, such as mushrooms, star polyps, zoos, leather coral and etc... Fishes you might want to try gobies(LOLz), small clowns or blenny and etc...

will be unique to keep a pair of true percula clown and a cleaner shrimp, master of the tank, with a maid.. btw, clowns will be fine without an anemone with them. And see ur clown fishes 'dancing' and 'shaking' with each other can be fun too. welcome to SRC!

Everything's sold. Back in 2yrs time.

Percula will usually max around 11cm, tomato clown around 14cm while maroon will be about 17cm. So it is considered small compared with the other two.

Anemone no matter how small will grow too big for your tank.

Espcially you are intending to get an anemone that percula will accept.

You should test your water parameters to ensure that your tank is fully cycled before introducing them. Also, please add livestock gradually in case your tank cannot handle the bioload.
