Differentiating Male and Female Anthias

Dear all,

I am interested in getting some purple queen and other anthias.

I have been to a few LFS and found that the owners do not know how to differentiate male and female anthias.

Can any anthias expert please help me by posting photos on male and female anthias or help direct me to some website that could help me?

Male anthias, Colour vibrant, sharp pointy nose. very showy

that is only applicable if you're talking about a Super Alpha male. the normal male anthiases don't look that colourful. in fact I have hell of a good time trying to tell the difference between my female and male Bartletts. where's Dispar_Anthias when he's needed the most.

but its rather easy to spot the colour difference for Dispar Anthias actually *I mean fish, not the person.*

yea dispar anthias and purple queen quite easy to distinguish.. the males have pointy snout... more colourful than the females also...

different anthais different way of identifying...

their charactistics different.. hard to explain.. most males colours nicer... but if u are refering to those that just arrive abit hard to differentiate
