Tank Recomandation...

Recommended Posts

Hi guy, currently I have a 3ft tank which I thought to set up for marine. Have been keeping FW for few years and I know FW and SW are different. Been reading for few mth. Few question :

1) Will 6mm all round be strong enough? If not, what is the suitable thickness for 3ft and 4 ft ?

2) Do I need to make a hole on the tank so as to link it to sump?

3) What are the alternative if I dont wish to drill a hole on the tank?

Think that about all for now. Might be back with more question.... ;)

Thanks.

This site is so wonderful and lot and lot of information.

My normal 4 feet X 18 inch X 18 inch tank only using 6mm glass.

I know I'm taking a risk. But I have run the tank before as a planted aquarium and had much more sand and water in it that time. So for now my water depth is only 15 inches. Oh well..hope it holds.

Always something more important than fish.

I would rather not risk personal safety and hundreds of dollars on a thin-walled tank. It could take just a liverock to tip over and crack the glass... good luck!

My 2 cents!

Oh well..the tank has been filled with water for about 1 year already..So far no problems. Should have added some bracings before I converted it to a marine. Oh well...

hehe..Guess when it cracks or something I will just have to set up a new tank! -.-

Hi, I also thinking of using existing my 4 ft IOS tank with 6mm side thickness and 8mm base as marine tank. Any bros can advise how and what to use as bracing ?

Also what filter media should I use inthe IOS 3-tiered compartment ?

Many thanks for the advise.
