Didn't read through everything but I just want to share something with you all. Actually my tank is going through 24hr water change cause I cant seem to stop a small leak from my skimmer output pipe. Tried everything from seal tape to glue to even parafilm!!!! Maybe that's why I do not have any algae growing in my tank

Sorry for the off topic,

Blueheaven - With regard to your leaking pipe, you might wan to try wrapping the leak area with soft rubber and clamp it tight.

Eric

no way for a weipro skimmer to really do all the work...if not all of us can throw away those high end skimmer and stick to weipro..

i bet his n03 is above 100ppm..

Hi, I'm using weipro 2014. Got it together with my 3ft tank plus sump. From the way u put it, weipro not gd? A GOOD protein skimmer can reduce nitrate level in yr tank?

a gd protein skimmer can certainly reduce nitrate levels in ur tank...

nt to mention that weipro skimmers are lousy....it is classified as an average skimmer...of cuz...weipro cannt be compared to the high end ones... :D

my 2 cents..

Hi All,

I got to know this bunch of old timmer from a marine LFS near my area. Most of them in their 50's. All the 3 display tank in the shop got NO Skimmer. A 2x1x1.5, another 3x1.5x1.5 and the main display is 5x2x2.

I have been wandering if a tank really can do w/o skimmer. Visited 2 of the uncle's house, both of them 3x1.5x1.5 and 4x2x2.5 both not running on skimmer. When I ask them why, they just answer me "Its the old school style". All the fishes are healthy, corals are good. I had never seen a adult Blue Tang ever so Blue in my life.(adult tang usually looses their colour density)

They had Lotsa anemoni and sps in their tank. Makes me think through their words again. Guess Experience Really Makes The Difference. Maybe being RICH and capable of pumping endless $$$ into the Hobby aint the only way out.

The skill and experience they have surpass people like us who only spent $$ to buy equipment Researcher had built.

Its just a thin grey line that we are all sitting on. Between physical skill, experience and $$$ to maintain our tank. Not whos equipment is bigger or more expensive.

Just my 2cents worth.

(Please pardon me if any offence cause, just ment to be a constructive comment.) :thanks:

For those who like to tank a look at the shop's display. Its at Bedok North Blk 510 beside a bicycle shop. The uncle is very friendly and humble there.
