Hi all, has anyone seen a cortez rainbow wrasse selling in LFS ?

gouldian, does these come cheap ?

HI Yiling,

Thalassoma lucasanum aka Cotez Rainbow or Bluehead wrasse is definitely a beautiful fish to behold. If I remember correctly, I have seen then once in CF. But can't remember how much they are liao.

They are usually found in Eastern Pacific: Gulf of California to Panama and the Galapagos Islands. Thus, I believe this will give you a rough indication of their price. ;)

Unfortunately, they are only suitable for Fish Only tank as they will feed on hardshelled invertebrates and crustaceans. ;)

In case I spark and mass buying of wrasses. :D

Actually according to most literature, most wrasses are not reef safe except for a few species. :(

But as a general rule, most from the genre Cirrhilabrus and Paracheilinus typically feed on zooplankton and thus are considered by many as reef safe. :D
