yea, not enough.

u would need Mh or T5 for them to survive :)

MHs r nt necesary for a 1ft tank...PL is sufficient...but it is advisable to change to 10000k one...n there is such thing where one side of the PL tube is white n the other blue. that is more den sufficient if u hav 2 of tt same kind of tubes..

my 2 cents :heh:

Is my lighting enuff?

Having a 1ft cube, with 2x 11w (6500k) PL

can i keep a simple clam? maybe on the rock works?

shld i change my PL to 10k? suggests pls!

Even if you intend to change to higher wattage to suit your clam. A 1ft Nano does not have the stabililty needed by clams.

Stability of:

1) Salinity

2) Temperature

3) Nitrate / Nitrite

4) Ca / KH

A sudden fluctuation of any of the above will be super stressful to your clam. ;)

And if the clam were to die on your Nano while you are out, it could possibly crash your whole tank.

Thus, kindly reconsider.

Unfortunately, most of us do not select the tank size for the ls we wish to keep. I believe everyone, myself included, bought a tank and then fill it with any coral we can lay hands on.

My advice to newbies would be get a shallow tank, preferably 2 ft length/width wise (height 1.5ft max) and use T5s or PC min. In this way you do not have to worry about insufficient light penetration at the same time wide surface area will allow cooling by fan easily. Such a dimension will also allow u to segregate the tanks area with LR so that you can experiment keeping aggresive corals.

Eventually, you will be more focused and plan your next tank with all the works!

In the event, you still wish to keep everything, then what the heck, go get all manner of tanks to suit the different needs but not many of us have that kind of luxury with $$$ and space. ;)
