Skimmer not ozone proof

Thought about the cheap weipro method, but weipro is made of plastic right? So will be gone in a few days.

Bonjour2,

Do you have a picture of how the ozone reactor looks like? Or a website url?

The ozone we pump into aquarium not that strong lah, your weipro won't "gone in few days". I using mine 2012 for 1 , 2 months already, not even a tint of yellowish at the weipro. Only a bit yellowish at the silicon tube coming out from the ozone generator, i running my ozone at night about 12am, then switch off next day morning. Anyway, i am speaking on my experience, you may not want to risk your tank & your family members.

Just found a workaround solution. I put a airstone close to the water intake of the beckett skimmer. So all the ozone get suck into the skimmer, but no need to worry about the blue connectors and valve.

BTW, anyone realized that the reading drop very quickly once you off the ozonizer? Mine was at 350, and when I off it, it will drop to about 300 and stay there.

Just cleaned my nozzle today and there is not much damage of the O ring

Only concern is that the glue at the connectors are starting to peel off <_<

BH,

can you show us or describe so we will have a better knowledge of it?

Here's a pic to show the damage

Notice the white ring and the blacking of the glue behind on the right air intake :(

having seen the pre-damaged state so it kinda look like pvc welding job to me. Nevertheless if its a damage you had observed then you can get your beckett supplier to make an ozone proof air intake assembly, should you continue to use ozone.

Thanks BH for sharing this

You can compare it with the left intake ;)

This kind of connectors should be easy to change out once in a while

Hi bro blueheaven, any updates on ur Skimmer conditions?

Anyway to make it ozone safe as I am using the same first generation from Joe..

Dare not connect my ozone direct into the skimmer, using air-stone and put it in my skimmer output area now.. :nc:

The O-rings have no problem but the blue connectors and the glueing will start to degrade ;)

You are refering to the blue connector glueing (I think so) or the whole skimmer glueing?

If it's only attaching the blue connector, then there shouldn't be any big issue to change the blue connector right?

If that so then I don't see any problem running ozone in the 1st generation RM Beckett liaoz.. :D And since you feed high ozone dosage from Enaly (200 mg/h) into ur skimmer and yet to have any major issue then with my Hailea running at 15 mg/h it should be fine then.. hurray hurray..

Yeah I'm referring to the glueing of the blue connectors. Should not have a problem changing them once in a while.

Other than that, I do not see any other parts degrading ;)

I think just normal pvc glue. But if your skimmer is using those blue connectors, best if you don't connect your ozone to it. Don't spoil your skimmer that worth hundreds of dollars.

Another alternative is to buy a cheap weipro skimmer and connect ozone to the weipro to make it like a ozone reactor.
