high ca why ???

my ca is always high at 550ppm , i using red sea test kit, previously using sera also the same.i using coralife sea salt change 10 percent every 2 weeks and kh at 7, still trying to bring it up with seachem reef builder. i intend to dose kalkwaser bring the kh up but will it cause ca and ph to shoot up also ? help. :(

I've heard that red-sea test kits tend to be generous at results.. maybe you could borrow from another to test/verify the kit.

If the kit shows verifies correct, stop using reef-builder and kalk, try something like baking soda to hold ur kh, as there is no Ca ions in baking soda. Ur calcium shd drop after a while(a week or so),... then test again

coralife sea salts tend to be more high in ca...i tested once...it is 450ppm...

how about the dosage? ;)

will it increase the kh or only maintain it.

That depends on how much you dose. Did you check out the link I posted above... It tells you how you need, based on 3 inputs, your tank volumn and what the current level is and what the you require. Choose the alk part.
