Recommended Posts

Hi! I just started with Marine fish and I need some advise

1) What are good lfs to do that sell marine stuff?

2) I need to buy some sand, live rock, corals.... how much do these cost and where to purchase these?

3) I'd like to get a harlequin shrimp.... are they easy to keep? What are they like.

4) What are good fish/corals for beginners that are more striking speciments?

5) I keep my marine tank in my room which has air con on most of the time. Is it advisable to buy a chiller? How much does a chiller cost?

6) How do I reduce nitrates?

Thanks for reading thru all these!:lol:

hi hi welcome here,

1) i usually get my stuffs from Lor Halus or Reborn at Paya Lebar

2) how much they cost will depends how much you need and what quality you buy. for me i use beach sand

3) they are very very nice but they eat starfish only

4) damsel and clowns are good for beginners

5) i don't think you need to buy a chiller if your air con is on most of the time. a chiller cost a lot to buy and cost a lot to run i think.

6) buy less fish! kekekek

IMO, reducing nitrates in nano only got these few choices

#1 Incoporate a sump with DSB which is troublesome to set up. DSB in nano is ultra unsightly and reduces water vol significantly

#2 Water change whenever nitrates is too high

#3 Get a expensive denitrifier or DIY one

#4 Chemical means ( If i'm not wrong there's some kind of filter media which does the job but $$$. Also a chemical call AZNO3 to add to reduce but also $$$ according to forumers, AT if i'm not wrong)

Just what i have gathered in this wonderful forum.. heh heh.. but wonder if i'm correct
