Black Tang in trouble

Dear reefers,

Need your help & advise on the disease. There is this patch of wool like stuff on the body of my black tang & white spots. It is just below the gills & is getter bigger each day. Not sure whether its parasite infection or fungus. It looks like raw wound, but also like mouldy texture. Tried dipping in fresh water for a few seconds & tried scrapping off the patch but no avail. Wld appreciate if anyone can advise.

I've been using anti fungal & parasite solution for 2 days liao. No improvement, execpt the white spots reducing.

:(

seriously, as i would advice for all tangs. they are not exactly that easy to die. leave them alone in the tank. caging them up will more likely stress them then do them any good. stressed fishes are more susceptable to ich and other parasite attacks.

my advice is, let the fella go into the tank. leave it as it is. make sure it eats. thats the most important thing. formula 2 flakes is the food that i have success with ALL tangs. you can try that. you can soak the flakes in garlic guard if you like to, but i think it should be fine. my tangs kana parasite attack before too. pretty bad, one patch was below the gills. wanted to do something bout it, but din do anything. not that i din wan to, but cant catch that fella out. so i juz fed it. made sure it ate everyday. after a while, it recovered.

a feeding fish is a fish that has a much higher chance to recovery. by moving them in and out of the tank, QT or watsoever will juz make things worse in my opinion. if the fish wanna live, they will survive, no matter wat. if they wanna die, they will, even if they are at their fattest.

and make sure there are no other fishes inside the tank that can chase it around, and stress it even more. it will only do more harm to that fella.

hope i helped a little.

all the best to your black tang.

Yes I agree, the most important thing is whether your black tang is feeding or not? Don't do any more fresh water dip, you will stress the fish. If it is feeding, feed them with more nori strips. If it is still feeding, it won't get defeated by the bacteria so easily. Are your other fishes bullying it? Just like my blue tang, it got iches during the 1st few days / 1 week, but it's still feeding, after one week, all ich are gone. Feed your black tang well. Good luck bro.

And don't put your hands inside the tank... that will also stress all fishes... give it a bit more time and room... and yes this is the best time to overfeed it
