Which pump for Return

Guys,

Me have a 4 x 2 x 2.5 FT tank. Which will be the suitable pump for my tank size ?

Eheim 1260 or 1262

Pls advise.

1262 will be better,but imo i prefer more than that.

Yup I agree, return should be as strong as possible. And I would suggest you remove the filter in the powerhead, as it may clog dirts and reduce water flow back.

THks guys for the reply. But I think Eheim strongest pump is only 1262. Any pump which has a flow rate better than this...

I have one pc Eheim 1262 bought from another reefer on 21/10/2005.

Using for my 4ft X 2ft X 1.5ft tank return pump. Due to cut down

electricity, already setup another 3ft X 1.5ft X 1.5ft tank.

Considered selling the a/m pump for S$80. no pics.

Hi Bro, ur tank specs are the same as mine. Initially I thinking of getting 1262 for the rtn, but after considering a long time, I turn to MD 55 instead. Its a outsump pump and great power with 5500LPH, but thw attage are slightly high if u were to compared to eheim pumps. However, after running the MD 55 for almost a yr and a half, its still working well and the water circulation in my tank is doing well too. Besides the MD55 as the rtn, I also got a tunze 6060 for enhanced the water circulation

Thanks for your comments. I bought a Atman 107 pump from 1 of the fellow reefer. Do you think this pump is powerful enough for the return.

The Flow rate is 3500 L/H

Hi Bro, I have not use atman brand b4 but based on the flow rate tat u mentioned, dun think its sufficient to drive water all way up to the tank and created enough water circulation U got to note of the no of bend and the headlost for it. Somemore, Atman pump are not presurred pump and it would have greatly reduced the flow rate by the time water reaches the tank . China made pump may not really be of the flow rate as specified on it. Usually lower water rate

Jus like bro Mansiz mentions, get a stronger pump for the rtn. Uor else u would have to go thru the trouble to replace another stronger pump
