dennster
Would a twinspot goby or sand dollar be a good sand sifter? Are there any other recommendations?

dennster
I think i'll go for the gobies or blennies as they are more lively and still get their job done. Are there any gobies or blennies that are smaller in size, preferrably about 5cm?
SRC Member RX_GAN Posted April 7, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted April 7, 2007 most of them are small in size...u just need to go search around. cucumber is poisonous but if handle with extra care will be alright... i'm only just giving u some options. good luck. SRC Member remus Posted April 7, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted April 7, 2007 I personally don like sand sifting goby is because they like to air borne my coral on the bottom. My vote would be sand dollar as they are hardworking chap that clean my bottom until very white.Eventually is still up to u i may like to watch the goby eat the sand but i don like to to air borne my coral. dennster
Read from a few articles that twinspot goby is hard to keep, especially in a nano tank. Any comments on this?
jErEmYsIa
I have tried to keep twinspot gobies on three occasions and they don't seem to last more than 2 weeks. 2 of them went MIA and i couldn't even find their corpse.. IMO, its better to try other types of gobies, jus my 2cents.. HTH
SRC Member searching4dan Posted April 8, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted April 8, 2007 had a twin spot b4.. din even last overnite.. next morning MIA liao.. a sand shifter is definately the choice for u.. but dare in mind tt its semi aggressive against other gobies.. despite the hardworking its slight territorial also.... used to have a 2inches sand goby, with me for 6mths.. it become 4-5inches.. sold it to another reefer.. my goby fed til big and fat and healthy.. anything tt drops on the seabed its his food.. lol Sand dollar on the other hand is hard working oso.. reefing is always a game of gambling.. if it dies.. get another one lor.. trial and error.. lol
dennster
Hey bros, thanks for all the info. Just bought a banded goby & it immediately starts to clean up the sand once i introduced it to the tank.
